Now that Musharraf is no longer an obstacle, its time to restore the judiciary. What are your thoughts? Now the new Govt has no reason to dilly dally the judges issue, considering they can ‘actually’ work on the restoration of the judiciary.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
yea now the person to blame for every ill is gone, let the good work begin!
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
^ I agree... From now on, every blunder or poor performance show becomes the govt's sole responsibility.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
This will not happen...Zardari has himself to think about....he will not let this happen.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
Then there will be a split in the coalition for sure.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
What's done is done!
NOW! the time has come for the present Govt. to cut to the chase and perform as it should have. There is no excuse left. Surely there will be scandals that will come of Musharraf but nothing should stall the present Govt. from serving the people of Pakistan as they promised to, when running their campaigns.
Then there will be a split in the coalition for sure.
That's the next big thing Geo and Co. might already be preparing themselve for
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
Yes, Judiciary should be restored as soon as possible. And Musharaf should be trialed for everything. Now he is a free man, who can be prosecuted in court of law.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
I think there was a deal that was struck. The Army probably had a role as they wanted him to resign, but they dont want him to be humiliated by the politicians. Its an ego thing.

definitely, there has to be something. Things will be more clear in the coming days. It could be Army or KSA or any other power including Zardari.

thought the thread was about the deposed Judiciary
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
Meeting between the heads of all coalition parties, at the Bilawal House ended without any breaking news of the restoration. It is expected to be done "real soon"...
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
Bring back all judiciary if you want, but pls no Ifti Chaudhry. Dude is way too political now.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
^ Then we ought to make him the president. Its unfair if we just leave him like that. His ouster brought about a revolution against dictatorship, that ultimately got rid of Musharraf.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
I am all for it. Once he sits out the 2 years' cooling off period (that is required for all former government employees), he can run for any kind of political office he wants.
Personally, I won't vote for him (because I don't trust the guy's judgements), but if majority of electorate votes for him, more power to him!
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
lets see if the elected govt meets the wishes of the people. Musharraf's departure has made one of their pledges complete. Others may come in the next few weeks with the main obstacle as stated, out of their way.

Faisal bhaijan. It has been barely 12 hours since the early retirement of Great President Musharaf and people are already making excuses as to why the EX CJ should not be restored. :)

As I have said multiple times on Gupshup in the last few months, I doubt either Zardari or even Sharif will be very happy to see Ifti Chaudhry as CJ Supreme Court. Dude is a lose canon, and both these guys (Zardari and Sharif) don't really want an independent judiciary over-seeing their activities. Sharif was pushing for judiciary issue because he felt that was one sure way to get rid of Mushy (personal hatred + election promise). Zardari doesn't want Dogar gone, because then the whole NRO issue becomes open again. I guess both these guys sat down and said lets do win-win by just taking out Mushy directly, instead of restoring Ifti. Now that Mushy is gone, lets see how these two deal with this issue.
Even if Ifti is back, it will solely be because of current pressure by lawyer movement, and his return may be very short-lived, as the government can fiddle with retirement age or any number of other things (e.g. take away SC's suo moto action authority etc) to make life difficult for CJ SC.

I think you are right, that was the likely compromise for getting Zardari to "impeach" Musharraf.

I don't want this guy to be back as CJ because of his involvement in the politics of last year.
Re: Now its time to restore the judiciary
72 hours, hopefully looks like they are considering it.
