So I hear people say Non muslims are going to hell..
Well there is a tribe in the Amazon jungle, This tribe hardely ever comes into contact with people from the outside world, Infact they are scared of coming into contact with other people as there bodies are not able to cope with the flu/colds we have.
Now these people do not know any better as they have never been preached etc etc. Now by definition they are non muslims. Do they go to Hell? If they dont, then the argument that I hear so often about only muslims going to Jannat is false. If they do go to hell, what sort of justice is that?
WEll...who said nonmuslims go to hell? No one actually knows that whos going to hell and whos not! Only Allah is the one who knows things like that! It depends on ur Eman and inside heart..and no one really knows what is in there except for u and Allah! It also depends on ur conditions and environment..and the case u r talking bout is totally different!
[16:36] We have sent a messenger to every community, saying, “You shall worship GOD, and avoid idolatry.” Subsequently, some were guided by GOD, while others were committed to straying. Roam the earth and note the consequences for the rejectors.

[22:67]
YUSUFALI: To every People have We appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow: let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord: for thou art assuredly on the Right Way.
i understand what the point that you're trying to make with the ayahs..
but these people in the amazon as rizwan has said...have never come into contact with any outside life. yes, i can agree that maybe generations and generations ago..there may have been some contact, but so much time has passed since then.
i don't necessarily believe that these people will go to hell. i, of course, cannot say whether they will or not, but if i use my common sense, it tells me that if these people do things that are morally wrong, then they will be punished for it. and if they do good things, they will be rewarded.
i don't believe that you have to be a muslim in order to be rewarded for it...
ohhh..and i don't have any ayahs or anything. this is just what my mind thinks at the moment.
as long as they have not started worshipping idols and worship one true God (no matter by whatever name), it does not matter how they pray, they will be considered as muslims (those who surrender to Allah)....
however, if someone now goes to preach Islam to them and they refuse to follow, then they r wrong....
there are solutions.
Yes they will die non muslims, but it is our duty to guide them. As muslims, Allah will ask us, why didn't you guide them to islam.
See, thats why Its so critical for us to rectify ourselves, who says we're muslims ?
We ourselves don't follow islam, muslims who call themselves muslims dont, what makes you think they'll go to heaven?
Muslims need to rectify themselves, once they do that, these amazonian people can also be rectified.
And in the end, Allah swt knows whos going to hell and whoz not.
rizwanfareed, every muslim is considered to be God's representative on earth. Our primary duties on earth are to
Worship God (tauheed, salat)
Help mankind (zakat, charity, social work, helping the poor)
Spread God's word (by first becoming model muslims ourselves and then inviting others to islam)
When we fail on any of these three duties, we are inviting the displeasure of God. Like Crescent said, when the amazonians are asked why they didnt accept Islam, they will say they never heard of it... and thats because we muslims never invited them to islam. The blame will be shared by all those of us who didnt do our part of #3.
Inviting others to islam doesnt necessarily mean going door to door and preaching. When you become a good muslim in your daily life, there eventually will be people who will notice you and wonder what made you become the kind and honest (for example) man you are, and you tell that person that its your religion that has made you the man you are. This alone can be considered an invitation to Islam.
If they did not come into contact with Islam, it was because they were not meant to receive it…Hence their account will be settled as non-Muslims who did not receive the guidance or the message…How can anyone be held accountable for what they never came into contact with? I believe they wouldn’t even be considered Kafirs…
The non-Muslims who will languish in hellfire are those who came into contact with Islam and rejected it…Hence they are Kuffar…
^ As lajawab said, if they never recieve the message, they cant be held accountable for something hey are not fully aware of. and yes muslims do not have a monopoly on heaven or hell for that matter.
I’ve never understood how God could expect His creatures to pick the one true religion by faith—it strikes me as a sloppy way to run a universe.

As stated in the verses that To every nation, atleast one Messenger was sent - and to each nation rites and ceremonies was commanded.
In this case: The people have lost the Islam that was brought to them by their Prophet and since the departure of their Prophet no other Muslim has come to them and confirmed/preached the message - therefore, the new generation is unaware of the Islam as confirmed by Prophet Muhammad [PBUH].
It is said:
Since, this tribe (or any person) who has not heard of Islam - but follows the path of rightousness (such as telling the Truth, helping the needy, charity, etc) will be forgiven and Granted Paradise through the blessing and Mercy of Allah. However, if they commit idolatory then the person is destined to Hell, even if that person has not heard of Islam.
“Have you (Makkan infidels) taken it for granted that God, who is in His heaven, will not cause the earth to swallow you when it starts twitching and trembling violently? And, have you also taken it for qranted that we will not let loose on you a hurricane? You should know that such are the ways of warning you. Those who denied (the Truth) in earlier times suffered the Divine wrath” (67: 16-18).
The rationalists believe that natural phenomena, like the present devastating earthquake in the Himalayan region of Pakistan and Kashmir, or Hurricane Katrina in the US are products of natural causes and nothing more. This is the Aristotelian “causationism” — the principle of universal causation, or the cause-effect relationship. http://www.dawn.com/2005/11/25/op.htm
