My sis is due to get wed next month & I am having trouble finding an outfit to wear on the barat. I dont want to wear a lengha as this wouldnt flatter my figure so im just looking for something apart from a lengha or a gararah.. Maybe a nice salwaar kameez any ideas ladies?
Also I am from the UK so if any of you lovely girls know of anywhere where I could get an outfit thats stunning got kaam on it and just looks unique or if you now of any designer I could contact that can help me.
You could wear a sari, or yes indeed a shalwar kameez or pishwaas, but there are many styles of lengha's available, are you sure none of them would suit?
Shalwar kameez will look cool, have a different hairstyle with it... then make-up and everythin will make it glamorous.Otherwise lehnga ,ghararah luks gud too,but i like these more for the Mehndi.. what are you wearing on the Mehndi and Walima? Let us know, may b then we can help u out more...
im going to go for a salwaar kameez for the mehndi.. all the salwaar kameez i have seen in green st adn southall arnt all that I want soemthing unique and stunning loads of kaam on it.. & its hard finding something nice there are some lovely lenghas but they dont flatter my figure at all..
^ Peshwaaz/Anarkali suits have a frock-like effect and are worn with a churidaar. Angharka has a similar look, but is less frock like, and is instead wrapped.
Hey, if you're anywhere near Birmingham try places like Soho Road and Stratford Road, (you'd have to google the places).
I live in London and have found Southall to be very "indian" in the designs, whereas Birmingham has more of a "pakistani" feel to the ready-made suits and also it's slightly cheaper then.
Also, if you're looking for unstitched material then the material I've bought from there, I haven't seen similar stuff in London, and it's nicer/cheaper as well.
One other thing, if you live near Southall then shops like Banwait Bros and Punjab Textiles have unstitched suits, in like silk, or jamawar etc for around £100 and you can buy one of those.
^ Thanks Aliya im due to go to birmingham next weekend and have a look at thier stuff for me southall doesnt do it as said its all to indianfied for me plus dont want to be wearing the same outfit as someone else at the wedding! as southall clothes are very common..
If money is not an issue then you should check out Seasons, Gul Mohar and Impressions by Gul on ilford lane, they have got beautiful outfits but they are well overpriced
My budget is £200 well £300 max if i really love it! oh ive only ever been to Ilford once.. Whats the place called where theres loaods of clothes shop? is it ilford lane or is there somewhere else I need to go..
Thanks
Its Ilford Lane, I am sure you can get something extraordinary within your budget--Gul Mohar, Seasons, Bombaby looks (they dnt have typical Indian style cloths) and Impressions are really worth visiting
