I was told by some1 thats notebooks’ prices in usa are considerably lesser than in germany.. so i am unsure if it true or not and if i should buyi t locally or have it from usa-online or somthin…can some1 tell me if they are really cheaper there or just a misinformation?
btw i have choices b/w toshiba/dell/packard bell..
secondly, i have never tried an AMD Athlon or an intel celeron.. i’d like to have a smart review from a first-hand experienced user with any of these processors..
You'd have to check the import regulations in your country. If there are huge VAT's or other duties on imported items then it might even out any savings you get by buying it in the US and having it shipped over there..
Dell has a German website.. the prices in EUR are like EUR 1599 + 75 shipping for a Dell Inspiron 8600 .. the same machine starts for $1349 in the USA and free shipping plus some free upgrades.
So yes .. arguably one could take a trip down to the US. (around $400 return in off season) ... enjoy the trip and also get a new notebook.
There are some guppies from Europe if not Germany around.. maybe they can help by giving their input..
Also some 'techie' guppie could fill you in about those choices.. i have yet to own a notebook so i wouldn't know the difference..
Weill i'm from germany and i suggest u to let it buy from a relative/friend in the US and then he/she may bring it over ..... i planned once to buy a notebook from US but after the feedback from custom about VAT and other charges i decided against it as won't save anything (maybe a double figure amount but not more) ..... but all the hassle and paperwork once u import it isn't really worth it ..... it makes sense if the price difference is beyond 500$
