Not Tipping the Salon Owner

Is that just an old tradition or people still follow it?

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

The owner you mean, getting your hair washed, cut and styled by someone else working there, paying and then tipping your stylist and tipping the owner as well?? I never tip the owner, just the stylist working on me :konfused:

I tip the stylist only :konfused: I didn’t understand your question :konfused:

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

we are not expected to tip anyone in uk.

just going to the hairdresses alone costs two days wage!

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

I meant if the salon owner performs services on you, then should you still tip?

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

I have never given one. The services charges are alone enough and the salon I go to has commission system so the whoever does the service gets share on it !

I just tip the stylist..

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

I second what Iyla says, here in the UK some places charge crazy amounts for a haircut anyway so there really is no need to tip those at the top of the chain imo. If I'm paying £40+ for a haircut I won't be tipping the salon owner, maybe the junior who washes my hair because they're probably on minimum wage, but not the salon owner or senior stylists.

Is it bad that I’ve never tipped anyone in a salon? I live in the UK and I’m pretty sure it’s not common practice here :hmmm:

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

I dont tip unless theyve done an amazing job. As the girls have said, here in the UK youre alreadys paying an arm and a leg for the hair cut!!

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

i only tip the stylist..........n i only give 50p-£1

oh god! I wish I had known it sooner…I have tipping and tipping since I moved to UK…:frowning:

Re: Not Tipping the Salon Owner

This reminds of the end of the opening scene in Reservoir Dogs.

I agree with Mr. Pink.

Uh-uh, i don’t tip…i don’t believe in it :snooty:

In the US - i dont tip if salon owner does the service but anyone else usual tip is 15- 20%

I never tip the owner, only the assistant, and thats only if i feel she has done a good job!

ha ha! well that is suit and big-hearted of you to do that!

no its not bad! lol! i too am from UK and never tip. haircut is already so expensive anyway! and you’re not expected to tip.

infact i should get tipped from all my clients via work if i am expected to tip others!!
