Well if bunch of people cursing the dead really makes no difference to the dead, then we (as Muslims) probably wouldn’t be told to not disrespect the dead, and not only that we’re actually further told to remember the dead in good words. Maybe it does make a difference to the dead in his grave. There’s hikmat in everything in Islam.

cursing the dead unnecessarily would affect the curser…not the dead person (as per my understanding)…

and what do you mean by ‘respect the dead’?? does it mean we forget every bad thing they did and pretend it never happened??
