kaam clothes? what do you guys with them? im talking about kaam (or even aam) clothes that you guys have in your suitcases/closets that you dont wear anymore, or become out of style…where does it go?
especially girls in the toronto area…i have all these kaam clothes im not goign to wear anymore (ive lost weight, and now they all big, style has changed, MY style has changed, etc)…i dont know what to do with it…ive given some to my mom to take back to pak for our poor cousins in our village, but she only has room for a suit or two…
i know there is this muslims women’s shelter here in brampton or scarborough…but i dunno…sometimes i think they would sell the clothes off, instead of donating it…
also, ive tried selling my clothes (since i have worn them once, and are in good condition..)..but i dont know if anyone would buy them…whenever i go to melas, i would see stalls for clothing..and i swear, some of them are sooo old and even used…
so my question is: what do you do with your unworn, not so new kaam clothes???
thats is scarborough right??? why do all the paki/muslim stuff have to be so far away!!???? i might do that...what do they end up doing with it? and what do u with ur clothes mehnaaz?
Hmm, i’ve taken em to pak n given em to cousins.. usually its stuff that I asked to be made, and was sent in my dads hand, they got it wrong, n i never liked it or wore it.. i have some outfits at home, but it hink ill be keeping em.. ill jus make new ones for my jahez
If you have relatives in Pakistan, you can make a parcel and send them (Fed EX, DHL) to them and have them give it away to poorer relatives or even their house servants. A lot of servants can use those unwanted formal clothes in the jahez they make for their daughters.
Another option is going to Pakistan and having them fixed up. My mom's taken some of my favorite clothes and had the shaped up, so now they look modern. The long kameezes are now short with new pants or patialas.
If the clothes are fancy, ask the charity if they want them. Give them the idea that they can pass it on for a poor girl's jahez. During the Kashmir earthquake, a lot of Pakistani women (in Pakistan) took it as an opportunity to purge themselves of their unwanted clothes and shoes. The charities were furious, since people were sending 4" hot pink stiletto heels, bikinis, and all their old zari outfits. They were hoping for practical things.
