Not reading CD

I have HP dvd writer dvd530i, unfortunately from last week it isnt reading CD, but i have no problem with the DVD, can anyone please help me regarding this.

try uninstalling its driver and then reinstallang them.

The installatio cd also has the same problem, i tried to install from hp but there is no such option for this model. Thanks for the reply.

no I mean uninstall it... then it may at the same time detect the DVD / CD ROM drive and will try ti install the drivers again.... or if not then restart the PC it will install the drivers itself.... just uninstall them....

Cleaning CD/DVD Drive might Help.

Sounds like the opu is faulty. Probably replacing the drive.

I tried everythign but nothing seems to work, i did not understand what we mean by replacing the drive shall i get a new one.

sorry I didnt complete my sentence. In many instances with these combo drives opu's for reading DVD media and normal media are different, from what you are saying, its sounds like opu is faulty. Basically it is cheaper to replace the drive

I will go with kingshah. However, check and see if the CD you are trying to use is badly scratched? If it is not then you need to change the drive.
