Re: not rape, but not right either
~Sehar~: GWU is no exception, it is a common practice in teaching hospitals along with so many other un ethical ones.
Mrs Saieen:your bhabhi reminds me of a quote I read somewhere "having a male gyn is like having an auto mechanic who has never owned a car". But most top skilled doctors in obs & gyn are male even in PK. I guess being male or female does not even matter as long as the doctor has good skills.
Re: not rape, but not right either
I was trying to get opinion on that but it seems like you guys are having difficulty even believing this. being a social worker I see & hear the worse nothing that comes out of hospitals surprizes me anymore. Medicade & uninsured people have less rights anyway.
In our area teaching hospital student's participation is common either the patient is awake or asleep. & the director of obgyn department strongly believes that "but the patient knows it".
Anyway, what is your opinion on that.
Do you think a prior consent ishould be taken before any kind of student involvement?
If consent is taken will you allow it? (my hubby who is a med student thinks that a prior consent should not be taken b/c than no one will allow it and students will miss out on teaching opportunities. sounds sick to me.
Re: not rape, but not right either
omg i had no idea stuff like this happens, i for one am completely shocked and grossed out, that totally crosses the line of privacy, they should explicitly ask for permission! im sorry but missing out on learing opportunities for a few med students does not come on par with my privacy and the sanctity of my body
Re: not rape, but not right either
Oh I totally forgot about this. Give me more time.
Re: not rape, but not right either
GWU has such a huge name...i can't believe this really goes on there...it DEFINATELY is a violation of privacy...wow..i can't digest this...
