^ i don't know about that... i've seen kids being given names that just don't suit their personalities or that are just awful. someone i know is named rupert and his brothers are titus and yeats. no baby should be called any of those. thats is all.

YUCK!
But seriously, it could be worse. Consider the names that are common in one culture and offensive in the other.....or the ones that are spelled and pronounced in an unsavory way.
For example, there's a name among African Americans that is pronounced as "Shethead". Unfortunately.....some parents spell the name as Chithead (the first letter of the name being an "S") OR.........how the name Phuc is a common Vietnamese name....but an insult in American culture. Suddenly, Rupert, Titus, and Yeats don't sound too bad.
Fatima is my sister's name. But I'm not crazy about it....even though it's a prominent name in Islamic history................it just doesn't (to me anyways) have a graceful sound to it when you say it.
i am sorry, i love Hazrat Fatima, but i don't like the name. i had a similar problem with my eldest, her dad loved Mariam, and i always wanted Ishma, so we named her both, my family all call her ishma, his family, Mariam. it had never confused her, and we are both happy. then again a name is just a name,
i didn't name my son, didn't particularly like the name, but like you couldn't think of a better one, so it stuck, and now i can't imagine him having a diff name.
why don't u add a name, if u like Ali then why not Alia Fatima?? you can call her fatima at home, but she can be known as Alia at school?!
OH my god…that so happens to me i hate it so much but cant do anything about it cuz no matter what everyone insists on calling me Fuh-TEE-ma grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Unfortunately she might go thru school getting called 'fatty', I know some ppl don't think it's a big deal but my sis-in-law to be has a similar name and it annoyed her so much she began using her middle name instead. As good as our intentions might be I do think we should** also** take into account how easy it is to pronounce properly, if others might tease him/her etc., think how upset u'd be as parents knowing ur child had stopped using their name cos it was causing them too much grief..
