NOT for faint of heart

I am SO totally grossed out over this…mad too. Hubby and I really enjoy fish, theres one called tilapia - nice white fish with a nice taste - we brush it liberally with curry powder and fry it. Ymmy. BUT for the second time, there was a WORM on the fish. I called the grocery all pissed of and was informed that its ok, that they are allowed a certain amount of these things in the fish they sell.

How totally GROSS is that??? I dont think I’ll be able to enjoy a nice fish filet again ever in my life.

Re: NOT for faint of heart

what!?!?! ew! i eat tilapia all the time!

Re: NOT for faint of heart

yukhh .. a worm...

sorryyy

Re: NOT for faint of heart

ewwww
thats gross! i'd report them to the health department, frankly.

Re: NOT for faint of heart

OK.....if the Worm did not die..........niether will you.........:)

sorry could not pass that up...:D

Re: NOT for faint of heart

mama exactly ^........I would find out if what they said is true. This is disturbing.

Re: NOT for faint of heart

worms taste piquant , people :D fit for the King

Re: NOT for faint of heart

well thats kind of the thing that the FDA says - when you cook the fish, the worms cook also and they arent harmful.

EWWWWWWWWWWWW

Re: NOT for faint of heart

U should give them a try someday mama :) make some savory worm curry ! it gona be heavenly :D i m tellin ya !

Re: NOT for faint of heart

mama all i will say is dont try to read fda guidelines of allowable levels of other stuff like worms in our food sources.

Re: NOT for faint of heart

yeah and that makes me wonder abt this whole thing my boy having a parasite man. You never know whats in your food unless you raise or grow it yourself. Maybe this will help convince the hubb to liquidate everything and buy that farm I've been so wanting over in pak lol. Hey I can dream yeah?

Re: NOT for faint of heart

where is the gross part again?? vorm is also protein

Re: NOT for faint of heart

usually the fda guidelines have somethign liek percentage of mold, mouse droppings, bugs, worms etc, in majority of cases these things are in processed foods and get in them during manufacturing process.

other issues are the hormones, antibiotics, genetically modified foods, the crap included in animal feed (remember madcow disease anyone) side effects of medicines, lead in toys and paints and electronics.

its pretty crazy out there.

btw one of my pals who moved here from UK was concnerned about the hormones in milk, noticed his kid was getting a belly, he swapped out regular milk with ortganic milk and with same activity level and same milk cnsumption the belly disappeared, he was not sure if that was teh cause so switched back and within weeks, belly..switched back, belly gone.

strange eh
