Why do aunties say this when girls are looking for rishtas?
What happened to all the guys we grew up with? Are too many going bk to Pak to marry, is it just that they aren’t actively looking so it seems like there are more girls than guys or something else?

I hear this so much..
It seems that Muslim men can only be found in Pakistan.
Actually what I think they mean is that there are not enough "good" men. Men with respectful personalities, with a decent education, and good reputation. I feel like there are an abundance of well educated attractive girls, with nice personalities but very few men that would be a good match. This is just my observation based on what I see in my community.

You should get me in contact with* your* community!
The good ones are
1. married to a desan
2. married to some white girl
3. finding a girl from pakistan cuz his parents don't trust the girls abroad
4. or he isn't meeting qualifications. i.e. good education, hard-working, honest, and with no drug/alcohol/drag racing record, normal good-boy haircut.
Honestly, some of the best guys I've met are the fobs. The ones that have gotten educated and are trying to immigrate, or have recently immigrated and are single and it's a hassle for them to go back to Pakistan/India to find a girl --> they're actually smarter deals to settle with.
Ive given up on the accent thing. I'd rather have a guy with an accent, and I can always talk to him in Urdu, compared to a guy from here who has multiple issues.
And you know what peeves me off at this point when I hear aunties make these lamentations? WHY ARE YOU RAISING MORONIC MEN TO BEGIN WITH?
The problem would easily be taken care of if we raised our men well - with expectations and values that we use on our little girls.
Like....why do they have a different curfew? You think that doesn't explain part of this problem? Or how there is a different religious expectation that men can marry out of the religion but girls can't? Or that bechara munna, let me cook him something and clean for him and wipe his butt, because he's the boy in the family, meanwhile I'll be hard on my daughter? Or how about, I'll tease my boy when it seems like the girls in the neighborhood are after him meanwhile if my daughter TALKS to a guy at school I'll give her a huge guilt trip lecture? Or how about when we make it acceptable that our boys bring home C's, or are caught racing their cars, or we just buy them the most expensive latest crap without having them show any work for it, or our boys have to have the latest car, or the latest sneakers, or it's ok for them to not go to desi dawats, but we force religion and culture down the throats of our girls and they have to go to weekly dawats dressed all prim and proper, and meanwhile our son is out clubbing?
PCG, just marry a girl...as you'll find the above mentioned issues even in the families of the "fobs" you now approve of. :p And no, I'm not being snarky.
Indian Muslims guys (and even girls) are much better.
And PCG, I also agree that FOBS are not that bad. They have worked hard back home to get to where they are now. I'd go with a nice FOB over a ABCD any day.
I don't know what's wrong with it, but I just have this image of skinny fobs wearing stripped shirts tucked into their jeans, with a slight mustache and glasses.......:-|
