Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Hi

I’m not allowed confetti or petals on the mehndi (something to do with insurance), but had planned to have girls greet the baraat with a shower of petals on the mehndi.

What else can I do to greet the baraat, now that petals aren’t an option.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Bubbles!

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Bubbles!!! That's brilliant. I don't have time to get a bubble machine now though so do you think the standard kids bubbles would work?

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :frowning:

Yeah…you can get special pots specially for weddings in the shape of cakes but they may be more expensive.

Otherwise just get normal pots but wrap them in nice wrapping paper to hide the labels.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

you are alowed bubbles but not allowed petals or confetti? dont get it!

why you cant have petals?

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Go easy on the bubbles. I have been on the receiving end before and it is not pleasant having bubbles popping in your face when you are all dressed up and trying to walk in.

How about sparklers/fireworks outside, before people walk in?

Or you could keep it simple and just hand out ghaajray/garlands/chooriyaan when welcoming the guests.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

why cant you have petals but you can have bubbles, theres mor chance of someone slipping on the bubble water then slipping on petals

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

You can tie those bracelets on them as they walk in, those rose on ribbons ones, forget what they are called

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Okay...maybe bubbles is a bad idea. How about handing each guest a flower like a rose or something?

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

go to early learning centre and u can get a bubble machine for 10 pounds....

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

They haven't specified I can't have bubbles, so I thought I might just get away with it. But yeah might be a bad idea afterall. They were sued apparently after someone tripped on petals.

We're already giving out chooriyan and chocolate as favours.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Yeah bubbles will be more of a risk for slipping then. Uzzybuzzy's idea of handing a rose/flower to each person sounds like a good idea.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

I will be honest, sometimes bubbles leave a round mark on silk and other delicate clothing, although they may look interesting, I don't think your guests will be pleased to walk around with round bubble marks on their new clothes for the rest of the day.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Good point! A single flower it is :) Thanks for all your help.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

You are welcome! Good luck with everything. :)

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

Hope everything goes well for you. Enjoy your Mehndi!

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

What about glitter?- no risk of falling

How about a feather toss? I organized a wedding in Dec and they ladies tossed colored feathers... pretty pinks and peaches.

Re: Not allowed confetti or petals :(

the problem with tossing stuff is not necessarily insurance but the cleaning involved. if they don't ban it outright, they'll probably have a fee associated with the clean up. can you imagine being in charge of picking up 100's of rose petals/feathers/confetti off the floor? nuts! this is, of course, assuming your mehendi greeting is outdoors. indoor venues usually allow these things as vacuuming them up is easier than picking them up off the lawn.
