The groundwork has been laid for North Korea to end it’s weapons program and disarm, the proposals are under final review. Sounds promising.

Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
USA would have had an easier time liberating North Korea from dictatorship than Iraq.
There would have been no insurgency in North Korea like in Iraq.

To Underthedome:
Your very welcome. Thanks for acknowledging my hard work on this difficult situation. Yes, sticking to six party talks seems to have been a good idea, even though everyone was saying I had botched this one and am incapable of making a single good decision. In any case, thanks for your support in this matter.
Regards,
George W. Bush.
P.S.
Tell Abdali hello for me. And ask him what a "swinging chappal" is.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
The administration is making concessions Bolton and the other neocons would have never made before this. The hawks are already railing against this agreement. I'm not saying this agreement and the concessions are a bad idea, but it is an about face. And it's about saving face for Bush who has PLENTY of bad decisions, ineptidude and nuclear proliferation on his record. Thre is no way he can leave office with 2 of the axis of evil w/nukes and the 3rd kicking our a$$.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
Sorry,
I screwed up again.
Bye.
George W. Bush
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
^ according to Bush's core supporters who have shaped his policy to date, he has screwed up. I'm not sure it is interpreted that way by others, or will be by history.

Apparently there is no stomach for military threats, and he screwed up the diplomacy...
Forget his core supporters. What chu think?
Are we conceding too much? Or should we have wiped out the facilities?
Should Bushie be credited or discredited?
Would Clinton, Gore, Obama or Kerry have been lauded in this circumstance?
It's just been too damn easy to be in opposition to Bush.
Did he do something good or bad here? Explain.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
The North Korea adventures should have never been delt with by the U.S. alone. To many other players involved locally, not straying from this position is a credit to the Bush team. If North Korea is going to give a table dance then it's neighbors should have the front row seats, not the U.S.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
I'm all for progress. IMO, this is a positive move. Food and fuel concessions are a small price to pay to de-nuke NK. Of course, it must be enforced and that's where the problem may lie.
My only point is that Bush changed course, he could have done this 5 years ago. He was listening to the neo cons this whole time but evidently became more pragmatic since leaving NK w/nukes would add to his legacy of failure.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
well well whaddaya know.. nuclear blackmail does work afterall!
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
So if you were advising the U.S., you’d advocate the bombing of Iran’s nucyoolar facilities, rather than diplomacy as the latter is simply an embarrassing slap in the face?
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
Well, it is February and the food and fuel are running out.
Somehow NK is always the most beligerent after a good harvest, and the most willing to compromise in the depths of winter. This deal will be off by next fall, as the fuel will be used to harvest crops, and process food, and NK will be feeling their oats.

But this time around it's not just the U.S. who North Korea would be thumbing their nose at but also Russia and China.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
absolutely.. and likewise for Iran.. hurry up with that enrichment and steer it towards military use as fast as you can... in a big dog eat little dog world, they have a higher chance of survival WITH weapons grade plutonium than without it.

If that's true why hasn't Iran been taken out by Israel, they have had nuclear weapons for decades, no?
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
Israel has the stupid goyim to do their dirty work.. why get into the line of fire themself.. for that they'd have to risk losing their own young men and women.. needless since there's an endless supply of young americans willing to 'defend their country' by invading Israel's enemies.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
"Get into the line of fire themselves", lol.
They have been in the line of fire since 1948.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
strange.. cuz I missed the part where they invaded Iraq on their own.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
You also missed out when you implied the Israelis haven't fought for their lives on a daily basis since the very beginning. Their young men and women have been risking their lives just by living in Israel for the past 60 years.
Re: North Korea Moves Closer to Disarming & Ending Nuclear Weapons Program
They also saved the world from a nuclear Iraq back in 1981.
