Marathi manus? Aila, kharokhar marathi ki fakt Id purta?

And yes, South Indians tend to socialize with their own kind. It is really irritating the way they just kick you to the curb when someone of their clique comes along. And how they communicate in their own language amongst themselves in front of people who don't get a word of what they are saying. It is just plain rude.( I guess I have done the same thing in this post :-p )

well north indians are extrovets and southies r introverts
north indians are loud and at times irritating
south indians are quite and at times boring
family values are strong in south than north esp things like respect to old parents and joint family

south have their own holy book which very secular

Introducing transalations from the Holy Kural, the 2,100 year-old Tamil classic on virtuous living, written originally by a famous South-Indian Saint Tiruvalluvar. The text written in the form of verses (each verse is comprised only of seven words in Tamil language) throws light on values to build a better individual, society, nation and world!

Verse 561
He is a true king who impartially investigates
And then duly punishes so that the offense will not reoccur.
Verse 562
He who wishes his prosperity to long remain
Will raise the rod severely, but let it fall softly.
Verse 563
The tyrant who causes terror to his people
Will perish quickly and certainly.

Wow..the tamil's have their own word of god. Holy crap...

Maanus, IMO while maharashtrians may not be as enterprising compared to Gujratis, they are not afraid to tread unknown waters… and they can often be found in non-traditional professions… unlike other southies who stick to the “nerdy” professions.

bitter, invincible.. I’m a Puneite with a southie heritage.

Maanus, i don’t like Bombay at all… the humidity, pollution, crowds, it all gets to me. and i have found many Bombayites to be aggressive, know-it-all types :snooty:

since vivek asked us to mention stereotypes, i have to say, the trademark southie moustache has got to go :o

Bah! You Puneite, it is the jealousy speaking..** I know**. Just coz puneites cannot be half as cool as us Bomabyites, doesn’t mean u have to resort to picking on Bombay’s humidity. :-p

j/k

I can’t help but laugh when the marathis and Gujratis speak hindi…

" phir hum jayega..vahan sey beer leyga..phir ghar waapis jayega…" :hehe:

what about hyderabadis ...
".. sadkaan par tarakaan khade hen" :D

but dialect is not important.. ther will not to speak Urdu or Hindi by people of other states is the thing..

during my short stay in sydney, i had some interaction with a few people from south india, and this i also felt that their values/ and strength of bond with the family was quite strong...i didnt know that its a trait of south india...

Mumbai is the Coolest place in India and mumbaikars are cooler than anyone else. Compared to Mumbai Pune is sh!t. Ethnically Marathis are closer to south Indians than North Indians. Even North Indians from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal are different from Northies from Rajasthan, Bihar, UP and MP. Infact India is too diverse to divide it between North and South India because Bangalis, Oriyas, Asamias etc dont even fit in that category, so do people from north east

Btw - All Northies call the southies as 'Madrasis' :D

there you go, perfect example :hehe:

matsui, i know :hehe: my babysitter used to pronounce “five” more like “phayoo”. god, i miss her

but seriously, i think northies fail to appreciate the southie’s efforts to learn hindi. it’s all very well to call em “anna” and “idli dosa”, but let any northie try picking up any of the southern languages!

aw cmon Asif bhai...Pune is not that bad...been to both the places...only thing which is bad about Pune is the people...Pune is a college goers paradise..

pune is gorgeous, weather-wise, scenery wise, it's got so much history, forts n all... if u like shor sharaaba n don't mind smelly slums and humidity, then yes, u'd prefer Bombay ;) pune is more of a residential town, n it isn't called hte "green city" for nothing... n bitter, what's wrong with the people?

Hindi speakers laugh at any Non-Hindi speaking person Hindi. Very rarely does a Hindi speaking person learn the native language of the state he lives. How many Hindi speaking persons learn Marathi while living all his life in Maharashtra.

Indians should learn to appreciate each other’s customs and language and not get divided by narrow differences. It’s high time Hindi speaking people learn other languages like Tamil and Marathi and not expect every Indian to know fluent Hindi.

Oh it’s just the people then. Well that’s ok :hehe:

I also want to point out that most South Indians tend to live in the South while almost all North Indians live in the North of India...that is a big difference if you aks me.

So true! :-D

And yes, Madrasi. Even in Bombay, most southies are known as Madrasis.
