North american/british/desi words for food?

Sometimes different words for the same thing can cause confusion whether in discussions, shopping or recipes here are a few examples below!

NA- Fries
UK- Chiips

NA-chips
Pak-chips
UK-crisps

NA-Eggplant
UK-aubergine
Pak-brinjal

NA-cilantro
UK-corriander

NA-zuccini
UK-Courgette

NA-egg salad
UK-egg mayo??

NA-scallion?
UK-spring onion

India = fingers

NA = Okra
India = Lady Finger

NA = Eggplants
India = Brinjal**

As far as I know in NA we refer to the fresh stuff as cilantro and the dried seeds as corriander.

Also I have come across lots of Americans and Canadiands who dont know what custard is which i find a bit odd..

US: heavy whipping cream

UK: castor sugar
US: superfine sugar

doner kebab and gyro are different things.
just like shawarma they may be made on a rotating spit, but they are not the same.

aww chillax....who cares...we all call things differently in our little parts of the world..! cheez to same hi hai na! chips crisps lol at car trunk though :P car boot is so much better,...even better is diggi :P lol
