Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

Great interview

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

he is the jewish irshad manji

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

seems like he is speaking some sense this time

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

Except he's educated.

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

Quite sad that a Jew has to teach Arabs about respect. I like the Jewish saying, "Never forgive, never forget."

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

“never to forgive, never to forget” :k:
“rather die standing on your feet then die crawling” :k:

thanks for sharing

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

manji is an upstart who claims to speak on a subject on which she has no knowledge and her conclusions are colored by her personal experiences…
this guy has a much more objective view of the world …a scholar ,not an imposter with an agenda like manji

see this

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

How so?

That is just your opinion

I remember one time that Manji came to my university to give a speech.

All of the MSA were huffing and puffing and getting their questions ready to ask her so they can throw her off

She ripped them apart with her answers

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

^ those people who criticize her in her lectures are muslims who may be practising muslims yet know little about islam and are more interested in bashing nonmuslims such people are easy meat for speakers like manji , these r the people who have made her famous ....have u read her book ? which is totally devoid of all scholarly material and will make even foxnews blush.....one needs some background in islamic studies to ATTEMPT to write a book ...let alone debate its future
she arrogantly refuses to see that , basing it on her personal experiences ...its like asking an iraqi kid today to talk about western democratic values when all he has seen is sanctions , missiles and occupation troops i.e ugly side of western democracies , what does he know about for instance the rule of law, welfare state , freedom of speech in their homes ...his verdict will be biased wudnt it ?
Her call to reforms in the way muslim practice islam is justified but no much more than the demands of khawarij of the past..... problem is she is on the other end of the spectrum , just as an ultra-marxist communist is essentially a fascist ...she is a kind of khariji of today as well , only more dangerous as she even outwardly rejects the tenents of islam in addition to doubting the Prophet[pbuh] while khawarij did only the latter
she will not last 10 min in a debate with any scholar

Re: Norman Finkelstein: Hezbollah, the Honour of Lebanon and the Arabs

I'd say it's an informed opinion...I'd say a guy like Bernard Lewis is much more critical in a meaningful sense than she ever could be...

One could well say that's just your opinion. I won't....I'll just say she's only as good as her detractors are bad.

Haroon Siddiqui, himself a lay person and a simple journalists...not even a conservative, tore her apart in a multi-panel interview. Not only did he get away with being completely dismissive of her views, he often gave her one sentence retorts. It was actually kind of sad. She's only good when she is surrounded by a sympathetic audience.
