Noor Inayat Khan - spy princess

I read an article that Noor Inayat Khan was honored in London recently, and a statue of her was unveiled in Gordon Square Gardens . I’m a WWII buff, but I had no idea who she was. Turns out she was an Indian origin British spy, who was descended from the legendary Tipu Sultan. This brave woman was just 30 when she was captured, and shot dead in a German concentration camp. Despite being tortured, she did not reveal any information to the Germans. She was awarded the George Cross, Britain’s highest civilian honor in 1949.

Just wanted to share the story of this inspiring young woman.. I’m glad she is being recognized for her sacrifice. There is also a book on her - Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Inayat Khan. This is definitely going on my to-read list.

Re: Noor Inayat Khan - spy princess

If I remember correctly, her mother was American and her father Indian. She came from an upper class family. She was attached to RAF but later became a spy for Britain. I think she was sent to France. Cannot remember the rest. Anyway a brave woman.
