I am new to cooking so want to know a bit about nonstick cookware.
They look nice in cooking shows but do you find them convenient for daily use? I used them for baking twice and they ruined my cakes both the times.
Window-shopped the other day, found Tefal which is a bit pricy than other available in the market.
Any recommendations for brand or any other tips for using them? Is it true that a single scratch makes the coating come off and ruin the pan?
They are good........u can cook in less oil........easier to clean.....
You should ALWAYS use wood/plastic thingies with it............and wash them carefully too........
and yes.......single scratch would start the process for coating to come off...
T-fal nowadays is not like how they used to back in the day my parents used to have, when I was growing up (90s) but yah it will get the job done.
Also try looking into Calphalon Stockpots/pans, I have invested in non-stick cookware, (you don't have to buy the whole set, they sell individually) I love this brand over any other one because cleaning the pots is much easier, food comes out great. I can even put my non-stick stockpot in the oven (when I make kachi biryani) and I believe I have 10 year warranty on those as well :)
Did you know that teflon, when heated too high, put out a gas which kills canaries? Think about it. We all forget and burn the oil once in awhile. I got rid of all my nonstick and now only use stainless and cast iron. I'm not saying I don't miss the non-stick benefit, though cast iron is really pretty danged nonstick, if you get them seasoned nicely. Only thing I have which is nonstick now is the rice cooker. You can't get a non nonstick rice cooker.
Pinkd can I have your recipe for kachey gosht ki biryani please? :)
I use non stick too and one of the greatest benefits for me is they are easily cleaned, you don''t have to do the 'maanjho'.. Though you'll have to get the nylon chamchas and ladles etc
I have Prestige ones, have been using them since an year and no problems as of yet.
