mo_best, I do enjoy the company of non Muslims too sometimes, like for example, my Hindu friend and her friends - I do enjoy her company but I feel like there’s always a certain element missing in the relationship…because she and her friends are not Muslims…
and I feel bad feeling like that because then I’m not giving my full to the friendship, but another part of me is confused abt whether I should even be close friends with a non-Muslim in the first place…

Gadha bhai, I agree with you, as human beings everyone is good at heart, but for practical reasons or religious reasons are Muslims allowed to be close friends with non Muslims? Doing business is different from being a close friend, cuz with your close friends you share everything…its not just superficial interaction isn’t it…its like you share your soul with a close friend…and thats why i was confused…cuz i am wondering, is that allowed in Islam, being close friends with a non Muslim…
Irem, why should it be based on religion? Why can’t a Muslim and a non-Muslim be friends? If people can get along with each other, religion shouldn’t come between them.

My personal opinion:
Sharing ur soul with a non-muslim friend instead of a muslim friend you have is not very appropriate. In a sense, the friendship with non-muslim friend must be based on honesty, caring, as a nice human being and all other good things there may be BUT a freindship with a muslim friend involves one thing extra on top of above all, that is, Love for the sake of ALLAH!
