Im planning on buying it… now in the past ive had the treo600, 650 and i now all i want is a good phone, just a basic phone, dont care about the pda features anymore… although the nokia N95 blows my mind away, but its coming out in early 2007, but im not waiting till then, so i thought I’d get a Nokia 8801, am getting it for $400 (could get it for some vendors for $350 on ebay), but I’d much rather go with a trusted business in case of warranty issues.
What do you guys think about this phone, in case any of you have used it?
My friend had a chance to play around with this phone last weekend. It feels different than every other phone he had held. It is solid and sleek. The opening and closing mechanism is perfect and has a beautiful heavy click to it.
i cant believe no one has this phone! come on guppies! well ive already bought it now, but i have a 30 days return thingie, i hope i like it... certainly looks very good...

I had this phone when it first came out - used to be $1000 CDN (since its for elite). Anyhoo, yes its v.solid the sliding mechanism is kool, top screen is scratch proof (big plus). Shiny so fun to show off. Thats pretty much I can say for its PROs.
*As for CONS: *
- Extremely small buttons with no feedback (meaning its really hard to get used to the buttons w/o looking to them).
- Camera etc is v.v.bad as well. Although you don't use these features too often, its still nice to have one on it (xpecially if you paying a high price tag).
- Audio quality: is decent but probably one of the lowest quality of all nokia phones
- Speakerphone: Unusable! I use this a lot on virtually all phones. This one is not loud enf to be used in running car (since its same speaker not seperate for loudspeaker)
- Did i mentioned small buttons? :LB:
- Builtin Radio is also lower quality audio
- Battery life is decent, but not really great
- DO I NEED TO SAY MORE?
My #1 reference phone to compare with this is NOKIA 6230b (which is THE BEST phone out there for practicality, hence lacks showing off). I have virtually used all phones out there Sony / Nokia / samsung / Moto / Sharp / LG / VK / HP / ... so i do have some experience when i talk about phones
P.S: Nokia released a newer version of this, which is "8800 sollisuo(?)" or somefin. Didn't tried that cuz it was too much of a let down from original 8801/8800. The price tag on the new one is also ridicoulous right now.

Thanks prince... .after using treo 650, im really not interested in features anymore, just a good looking cell phone, and this one is prolly the best lookin out there, well atleast till the nokia n95 comes out, which I have pre-ordered... now thats a phone that can kick any phones ass anytime!
Are you talking about the Sirocco, its got some enhancements, such as the camera being 2.1MP etc, and the special edition faceplate kicks ass, its going for $1100 on ebay right now and still 3 days left for the auction to end…
I ended up getting the regular sirocco, which is $600, waiting for it to get here… Heres a picture of the Nokia N95, arriving in January/February 07…
