Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

So the nokia 8801 is supposed to be the Rolex of cellphones, and as I am in the market for a new phone, I was wondering if it is worth the money? I will not be using most of the functions, but I do need speakerphone, and basically a phone that I can make tons of phone calls with, without any problems. I love the way the phone looks and its slider design. I currently have a Motorola RAZR, and am getting quite annoyed that everyone and their brother has one!

Anyways, does anyone have first-hand experiences of owning one? What are the positives and negatives of the phone?? Most importantly, would you recommend someone buying one?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

nokia 8801 is NOT the rolex of cellones. if u r willing to spend the money on 8801, get the n80 instead. its a sweet phone!!!

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

8801 is not the greatest...used it a couple times....umm there are lots of other better options. No doubt 8801 looks great..but its function and smartness is limited

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

its gud ..but looks kinda like a guyish phone..
i've seen other gud looking nokia phones
btw i have this nokia one with golden flowers all over..cremish color, and it is block style...dont remem the model no

Re: Nokia 8801–Is it worth it?

I did a search on the N80, its an awesome phone. Is it available in the US?

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

yes, its available. u won't get it from the carriers. u can get it from the nokia store in chicago or get it from one of the online vendors.

Also, look at the N73, that is also a good phone.

If you can wait, wait till the n83, it will be released in early 2007 (hopefully) and it will be sweeter than the n80.

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

oh yeah i remember now...i have nokia 7360
its an old model

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

rolex uh? :D

check vertu mobile phones :D Now thats a rolex :p both the design AND price can be compared :D

Anyway, the 8801 is a nice phone. If you just want to make calls and have a very good design, go for it :)

Re: Nokia 8801--Is it worth it?

Dang, the Vertu only costs $18,000! I wonder how long it would take for it to be considered technologically 'old/retired'. The average life of cell phones is about 1 year and a half with all the changes, etc, so I wonder if this would be the same. $18,000 for a year and half....that's an even worse investment than buying a car!
;) However, the design is awesome.
