I’m pretty much eating 24/7 regardless of how full I may be.
However, I eat quite a lot late at night. It could be because I’m studying late and for a change I like to munch on whatever I could find (eg. humus with pita, nachos, chips, samosas, rice, etc.)
Often times I’d be having a full meal at night and then I end up sleeping right after.
I guess I’ve gained some weight because of that or if not, then I’m just finding it very difficult to reduce the extra pounds that I put on over the summer.
What should I do? I can’t help eating and I guess I’m either looking for a snack that is filling, yet doesn’t have too many calories or some totka that could stop me from eating late at night.
Oh and I also watch Food Network late night (pretty much everyday).
I had the same habit when I was living with family. But it was cz I used to spoil my normal day meals cz I was always busy talking excitement used to spoil my hunger. And when everyone would go to sleep, I'd feel hungry... or even wake up hungry at night. My mom used to leave some snacks/food in the kitchen cz they knew I was gonna get up to eat. And if anybody would here noise in the middle of the night, they's know it is me eating..... LOL.
But I dont have that habit anymore. Have lost many of my old habits.
I used to eat late into the night too, which probably contributed a lot to my weight gain during my teens. It's only really a problem if you're eating your normal meals in addition to the late night snacking.........before you know it the weight creeps on.
It's a hard habit to break, at least it was for me. I used to end up going to bed at 8pm to stop myself eating and never watched tv in the evenings as that's when I would inevitably end up snacking.
It's somewhat of a relief that I'm not the only one with this problem.
I have no other option but to study till 2-3am. Since there's usually so much hwk/assignments/reading to do, I often end up doing it while watching tv.
So how did you guys give up this habit? Other than sleeping early. :p
Oh and I do have my proper meals, plus tons of other junk food or whatever I could find late at night.
Perhaps you could change the food you are snacking on.......try having air popped popcorn, raw carrot and cucumber sticks, dried fruits and such instead.
Or try and eat sensibly during your daytime meals to 'save' calories and allow for you night snacking........it's not really a solution but it should help the weight gain stabilise.
Try snacking on vegetables and fruits instead. Or make toast. That seems to work for me. Another thing that works is not buying any junk food at all. If it isn't in the house, the temptation will be much less.
XchorniX, unfortunately, I've crossed the 100lbs line. I no longer weigh a hunderd pounds.
I ate so much over the summer and I eat late (after 12-1am) every night, so I've got a reason to worry.
Just yesterday I had 1/2 bowl of nacho cheese with nachos, then I had 1/2 pita with humus (around 1.30-2am). Earlier, I had a good dinner.
I checked my weight today and I've further put on a few pounds.
Anyway, I'm really gonna try my best to refrain from eating junk food for about a week or two till I lose all the extra weight that I've put on, insha'Allah.
Besides, I'd be happy to gain weight eating healthy stuff than to be gaining weight by having junk food. :(
irem, it's okay, so long as you're not putting on weight.
