I was at my friends place this weekend and met this lady who was basically from Pakistan but was living in here for more than 20 years. She raised her kids here (obviously) and we were discussing different perceptions of those kids who were born or raised in UK but their parents were Asians. She told me that it held a voting in their school that should Foreigners be allowed to their country or not and even her kids had the view that NO, They Shouldn’t!! She said, Being a Pakistani, I wanted to make my children understand that they were wrong at their place and that the kids shouldnt vote them out! The lady couldn’t provide my the satisfactory answer & therefore my question is from you all, do you think this kind of views from a kid, (especially who’s somehow basically from Asia) is fine? Its their patriotism towards their Country, where they are born in!! Right! They have to think that way.. The child is a Muslim, not Pakistani! so should he be thinking about Pakistanis (Foreigners) in a positive way just because his parents were Pakistani or he should ignore it and be patriotic to his own country where he is born!! ??

Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
My personal view is that being raised in the UK, this country has given me everything. Education, house, job, luxuries that i enjoy. What has pakistan provided for me?? Apart from my parents being from there i have no allegiances towards that country (not in a bitter way). Im British Muslim of pakistani ancestory (i would still acknowledge my pakistani ancestary). Also, to think that kids 3 or 4 generations down the line are gonna feel a connection towards pakistan is not only unrealstic, its just not right somehow. Ive come across people of pakistani background here, who have never been to pakistan in thier life but act more pakistani than pakistanis in pakistan. But they cant speak a word of urdu/punjabi.

its not mutually exclusive, one can be patriotic and have a positive view of foreigners.
The question of who should be allowed in the country and how is a different question.
e.g. legal immigrants with needed skills, going through proper process vs. anyone illegal who can somehow make it in.

What X2 said. I'd side with the country I'm living in. If the country I'm living in needs skilled workers, then yeah let people fill out the paper work and come in. However if anyone else I'd say no, because if we let everyone in then the infrastructure would collapse, like it is in Pakistan. We let Afghans live here in Pakistan, when they don't contribute anything towards our society. They obviously aren't skilled, and they're taking minimum wage jobs, jobs that other Pakistani need. Then they bring their tribal culture over here, as if our own Mullahs weren't trouble enough.

What X2 said.
And I also want to add. These kids, despite having been born in UK or America or wherever, will still be seen as foreigners aswell. No matter how integrated they are.
As for who should be let in and who not. Every situation is different.
To contnue with these 2nd generation immigrants' kids. Their parents immigrated to a different country aswell. If it was their right, why isn't it any one elses?
Maybe one could ask himself, If need ever arises, why would any county let me in?
Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
I also agree with X2. Just because I am of Pakistani (or any other foreign) origin does not necessarily mean that I would support open borders. It's not only the right but also the responsibility of any country to only allow people in who will contribute to society in a positive way.
Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
Well lets see , how many Pakistani's do we see in the UK who are actually working and not producing baby per baby to get child benefit and a bigger house?
How many foreign nationals do we see who actually go to work or try to have a career , rather then going on to beg the government for benefits all of their lives?
Like X2 said, if foreigners are coming in to add value then its fine.. but generally they are looked down upon coz what I wrote above is exactly what they do ..
Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
Not sure coz I don't really understand the question. But I believe we are allowed to have dual nationality in Britain so we should be proud of both countries. I feel Brit-paki kids despise Pakistani people and the country....may be because their parents didn't teach them anything positive about Pakistan. Their knowledge is based on the news they see on tv.
To be honest, this is the reason I'm moving out for few years. I want my kids to expose to different cultures....in Britain we don't really have a culture IMO.

yes, so you think that those kids's perception is right? They think right??

THIS! Agree!!
Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
I'm all for bringing in skilled labour when it is needed, however I don't think it's wise to let in every unskilled immigrant from Eastern Europe, and Paistani's who come here with little or no education.
Re: NO to the Foreigners!!
I think the kids prob meant 'no' to immigration with no limits or just letting anyone in full-stop.. Most ppl would think this way imo..
