No purpose in life...

Im currently doing nothing…no job and no plans to get married. Im a teacher and have started thinking about coming to Pakistan to gain some experience there and spend some time with family there.

Is it easy to move to Pakistan for someone born and brought up in the UK?

Would I be able to get a job in a school?

Its really stressing me out, coz I think I can do it but my family keep telling me its not possible.

Any advice would be appreciated…

it’s tough times for many right now including me, you just need to stay strong, not pakistani nor do i live in pakistan so hopefully somebody that’s living there would be able to help more

Re: No purpose in life...

My feeling is that with your British accent you will find a job as a teacher in a jiffy. Specially with those schools where people love to send their kids at a very high fee.

You should be able to get any job with any MNC in Pakistan. People get impressed with foreign accent , fair skin and good looking folks easily there.

Heck with your British accent I am sure you can find Job as President of Pakistan , only if you could get rid of Zardari somehow.

Thanks for replys,

Mirch - whats a MNC? I have no intention to be president, just wanna do something with my life.

Re: No purpose in life…

Cheadle , as a Brit and a teacher, securing a job in Pakistan wont be an issue- have u looked at vacancies on the TES??.. There are many Pakistani schools such who follow the British National Curiculum/IGCSE’s .. U just need to plan and apply. Alternatively if youre with a Recruitment agency like TeachAnywhere.. you could keep a look out there. Also, job fairs like Search Associates held in multiple UK locations can be headhunting UK teachers. Hope this helps!:k:

Re: No purpose in life...

Go to your local volunteer centre, see if there is a Pakistani community centre nearby, keep applying, get advice from a local adviser, see job vacanices with many charities they are always looking for people to go to other countries not only Pakistan but Africa, US and Australia! :D

Multinational Corporation.

Re: No purpose in life…

darn instead of growin up in the US, why wasn’t i raised in the UK, then i would have a spiffy british accent too :bummer:

Re: No purpose in life…

Any foreign accent is a good sell in Pakistan. Don’t worry.
If you have Paksitani accent then you are doomed. :cb:

Re: No purpose in life...

^So true :p
Big schools like KGS (Karachi Grammar school), all schools with O'Levels would probably love having you on-board. The question is will you be able to adjust to the lifestyle there?

Well job situation is not good in Pakistan but you belongs too education industry you may find a school job easily as mention u have a teaching experience people here like to hire people like u because u have a good accent other then that u may find call center jobs or customer services job as well. In which city u like to move.

Re: No purpose in life...

Yes poppies you guessed right im from Manchester. I have checked the TES and do everyday...there are just no jobs around here. Have signed up with two supply companies and they also have no work...I dont know what else to do. Thanks for your advise and thanks to everyone else.

Re: No purpose in life...

Primary or secondary? Which subject are you qualified to teach?

Why not do supply work to gain some experience - there is loads available now. As you know teaching is a profession that is saturated with females so someone somewhere will be looking for people to cover maternity leave etc. How about looking for a job as a TA until you can find a full-time teaching job? You could even try private tuition, especially if you are qualified to teach a core subject such as maths, science or english?

There are a number of options, don't give up hope!

:lifey:.. whoppeee a Cheadelian!!! Go for it!! Ok inshallah just see what happens. Have u tried joining with a Teacher recruitment firm as opposed to supply agencies?.. they cater ur for u in terms finding u a position suited to ur requirements…look ur in the right profession- the world will always need teachers- dont dishearten urself… besides now will be positions that wernt filled from Summer.. and then theres half term vacancies coming up at Xmas… whats ur specialism? …**
