It was a politically motivated act of violence, which by definition is terrorism. If he did it because voices in his head told him to...I'd buy the crazy argument.
Being mentally challenged didn't excuse the shoe-bomber, or even Omar Mateen who seems to have had a whole whack load of mental health issues, so it shouldn't excuse this guy.

Obama govt went to the extent of removing the word Isis from the 911 call of mateen, just to shift the focus of the mass shooting from terrorism to gun control. I haven't seen any muslim praising that bold move by USA.

Of course it won't change anything. A question was asked: why is he a terrorist. There actually is a definition; it actually does *matter *if this definition is selectively applied to one group and not another. This is hardly unique to us, just ask the African Americans. Now they have it really bad...

to me, he's not a terrorist, more a wannabe assassin. if he had wanted to kill trump supporters indiscriminately, that would have made him a terrorist.

what purpose does that serve? Media spread the word as soon as (or may be before) it became known/claimed and all US population now considers Orlando incident as "ISIS/Mozlem terrorism"... dropping "ISIS" from the call few days / hours later does not do anything to that effect.

Lee Harvey Oswald's actions were politically motivated (he espoused pro-soviet sentiments) so yes he is a terrorist in my book. Whether he acted alone or conspired with others (as many Americans believe he did) to kill JFK is besides the point. Check wikipedia
