No more CBS

Viacom stopped Dishnetwork from broadcasting CBS network TV in 16 major metropolitan markets starting today. I am in one them. Also gone are Nickleodian and Comedy Central :frowning:

Oh whata bummer.

Is MTV/VH1 still on? I will be devastated if they get rid of these channels.

Mehnaz, I don't believe Toronto is one of the affected markets. You won't see any interruptions.

devastated by lack of MTV/VH1...ooooh Laalaaa...

I am screwed...no more CSI-Miami or Everybody Loves Raymond. And how about good ole Charles Osgood on Sunday mornings...and oh crap...60 minutes and Andy Rooney... I will definitely miss Leslie Stahl... and no no ..oh my God... I didn't even think about Letterman....oh man, I am doomed. Now, I have to put up with Leno's jokerism.

More Than 1M DISH Network Customers Lose TV Channels

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Over 1 million DISH Network customers across the United States have lost some of their TV channels.

EchoStar Communications, the parent company of the Dish Network, has pulled the plug on Viacom-owned channels like MTV, Comedy Central, VH1 and Nickelodeon.

DISH customers in 16 markets lost their local CBS affiliate programs as well. The timing could give a whole new meaning to "March Madness" since CBS carries the NCAA basketball tournament, which starts next week.

The markets involved include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Boston.

DISH has posted an announcement about the cancellation on its Web site, along with a plea for consumers to call CBS.

Viacom says it has a solution. It's urging DISH Network customers to switch services.

EchoStar says in a federal lawsuit that Viacom is illegally trying to force EchoStar to carry Viacom-owned cable channels at unfair prices in exchange for the right to carry CBS-owned stations.

A recording at Viacom says the company won't comment until later today.

The shutoff is the result of a contract dispute over programming fees.

Hahaha…nemesis

Why I just watched CSI-Miami yesterday night :stuck_out_tongue: It was a repeat though. Hopefully watching Leno will improve your humour a bit. Everybody Loves Raymond you shouldn;t be watching anyway and miss Leslie Stahl??? Forget her…it’s not meant to be.

Well, it was your last episode of CSI-Miami. The disconnect starts from today.

I watch ELR for his dad. He is too funny.

Leslie Stahl is like an aunty to me. I grew up watching her stories. WHat were you thinking?

BTW, I like Leno's show when that old lady shows up for advice. She is killer funny.

I don't get my american channels thru dish network :p and i don't usually think when it comes to you...tukkay se kaam chal jaata hei. I can tape them for you if you pay me a good amount.

Madhanee, I can't think of a life without PBS. I wake up with the sound of Teletubbies...Laalaa, Po and the ever refreshing laughing baby shaped like a sun. Then comes Mr Rogers. I know he is dead but re-runs are worth holding the urge to urinate. And who can have a good day without watching Pee-Vee Herman.

I am glad I have PBS and all my ex-girlfriends have PMS.

as if it's a problem.. stick a cable into your VCR and just tap it to the cable point and you got network channels.. enjoy..

^ That won't get us Comedy Central right?

Dishnetwork does not offer subscription to Toronto, or Canada. Mehnaz, I know how you are getting it though ;)
