This accident happen in one of ODI matches between WI & Ind in 2006 at Jamaica and at one stage there was only one umpire(Asad Rauf) on the field, some how Billy Doctrove( who else? :hehe: ) wasn’t at his position, there was run out appeal by Indians and it was fun when Indian player appeal for run out to leg umpire but there wasn’t any umpire.

I was watching it live. One of the funniest moments in recent history. Billy was down by the boundary rope and was actually caught on camera and was shown on the big screen right after the appeal. Everyone laughed then, but it was confusing to note that initially square leg umpire was not sighted. Raina and Dhoni (if memory serves) stood almost side-by-side and threw their hands up in the air when they couldn’t spot the umpire either.

I wonder what the batter might be thinking at that point in time.

Better yet, after a few mouse clicks -

omg! This is bizzare stuff here! A run out appeal goes up but where is the umpire? you won’t be able to guess, he was off the ground, near the boundary ropes! I am not lying! Sarwan pushes one to the on side and they go through for a quick run and Raina, from short midwicket, comes in and throws the stumps down. They all turn to the squareleg to appeal but holy god! no one is there! Umpire had gone to maybe check out the sight screens. and now even more comically, they call it a dead ball. This is so much fun! Never a boring moment in this game!

Wow, amazing.

I can't believe that the umpire was off the field and the play continued. Billy Doctrove just can't keep himself out of the limelight!!

I don't think it was doctroves fault alone.. I mean the other umpire should have also checked before letting the game resume....

The way the camera pans to where the umpire should be and theres just Sehwag stood looking around is priceless!
