the world has changed... =/ and this is one of signs of judgment day that even the muslims wont care anymore about Islam
i think that religion is a very personal thing. just because people dont constantly quote ayat or hadees doent mean that they have lost there faith or that if they do they they are the better muslims. i can only answer for myself and if i am around someone who is constantly doing that it really puts me off. i have always found that people tend to adopt an' in your face' kind of attitude when it comes to religion and if the other party doesnt do the same then they are labelled faithless or too modern. ( please dont take this the wrong way it is just my opinion and no i am in no way faithless or more faithful then anyone else.) i dont come to GS for any faith guidance but for a little entertainment and a bit of fresh air if you will. even though the best thing that happened to me is mu participation in the monthly quran khataam, for which i will always be greatful to the mods. it has brought me lots of peace.

On the scale of 1 to 10, 1 being going to masjid only on Eid, and 10 being blowing themselves up, most muslims are at 5.

You have a very good opinion of Muslims 5 according to your criteria is the middle path and the middle path is the correct Islamic disposition.
My opinion of Muslims however are mostly on 2 or 9 and very few are on 5.

Perhaps you have taken the numerical mean rather than looking at the discrete data sets. Bimodal I think ... either side of 5 but not quite on it.
