Keep them coming.. I need a "wow" dessert! making chocolate orange mousse..

Re: No-fail desserts

This is the easiest recipe out there and always a hit. I call it 'Strawberry/Pineapple' delight.

Ingredients

1 can pineapple chunks
fresh strawberries (if used frozen then well thawed and water squeezed out)
pound/yellow cake
sweetened condensed milk
whip cream
cream cheese (optional)
(I don't use Cream cheese to save some calories since rest of the ingredients are already high in fat).

Mix whip cream, cream cheese and condensed milk. Spread cake in a dessert serving bowl. Layer pineapple and strawberries on top of cake. Lastly pour in the whip cream/condensed milk mixture. You can decorate with some pineapple and strawberries on the top if you want. Served chill.

Panna cotta with a summer fruit puree like apricot, peach or mango.... delicious, wow and cool :)

cheesecakes

I saw a similar recipe just yesterday in Kraft’s recipe magazine (havent tried it myself)

Layered Strawberry Cheesecake Bowl

Re: No-fail desserts

Tiramisu works as the easiest one to make for me. Whip some mascarpone with sugar. Dip the lady fingers in coffee and do the layering. You could optionally do fresh strawberries OR chocolate shavings in the layers. Always turns out yum.. totally fool proof in my opinion. No cooking, no baking, the guests love it :)

I make tiramisu a lot bhenjee :( as well as layered trifles... I'm thinking of a layered ice cream dessert. Please keep the recipes coming.

Put a layer of frozen fruit yogurt in it too. Like strawberry.

I think either vanilla icecream, strawberry yogurt then mango icecream would be nice, or instead of mango ice cream, use chocolate.

Re: No-fail desserts

Now if you really want to impress, I would suggest either a 3 ways dessert, or a trio.

A large square plate, with a shot glass of chocolate mousse on it, a small square of chocolate cream cake, and something else, like a stewed pear with chocolate sauce.

Or a shot glass with chocolate mousse, a square of cheese cake and some strawberry ice-cream.

Dredge some cocoa and / or icing sugar around the plate, over a chocolate cafe stick thing, a few slices of strawberry etc. Looks good, taste good.

whats a pound cake?

You have got to try it. It’s just tooo yummy. Infact I’ve been craving it for days.

Defenition off of wikipedia:

Pound cake refers to a type of cake traditionally made with a pound of each of four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs, and sugar. However, the quantity is often changed to suit the size of the cake that is desired. As long as the ratio is preserved, the resulting cake will generally be very similar to that using the traditional quantities. Hence, any cake made with a 1:1:1:1 ratio of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar is also called a pound cake, even if the quantity used is smaller or larger than an actual pound.

Actually for this particular recipe you can use any of the following cakes.

My no-fail desserts are:

mixed fruit sponge trifle

lemon drizzle loaf

chocolate fudge cake

chocolate brownies

bakewell tart cupcakes

Desi sweets are not really my strength although I'd love to me able to make barfis etc confidently as I make cakes.

Re: No-fail desserts

Anything that requires seasonal fruit......especially strawberries! What about Eton Mess? serve in wine goblet like glasses or trifle glasses. Sure fire way to wow your guests!
