Re: NO CLUE BRIDE…KARACHITTES PLEASE HELP!
- There are loads of decent Venues in Karachi but I would suggest that chose an area near to ur house or locality to avoid any unexpected mishaps. For example if u live in north nazimabad dont chose a venue in defense considering the halat of Karachi u need to be a Lil practical. Last year when my parents suggested the same to me & as a bride from outside Pakistan it really upset me so I went ahead with the venue I liked anyways and learnt my lesson the hard way as Karachi decided to close down and I barely reached for my own event + really took it all out on my hubby who was pateintly trying to find shortcuts to reach the venue. So skip the extra pressure and make sure venue + salon + where ever u r staying + thr outdoor location of ur potrait shoot is close by..running around Karachi in ur wedding dress isn’t practical!
There are some venues in Karachi that are amazingly decorated and for which u wouldn’t need to hire a decorater. My dad’s like urs and I was quite naive so I wanted to find a decirater who can make my dream wedding into reality but the reality is even the best decoraters not only charge a bomb but WILL NOT DELIVER ON THEIR PROMISE! I was meant to have center pieces and orchid trees and a black & white carpet but none of it happened and till date I Dont know the reason. The truth is the decorater hands over the assignment to a bunch of people who will basically off load all the furniture on the venue, set up everything & later dress up as waiters and steal most of the food from where its being cooked + most of them are high! Save urself the heartache and go for an indoor venue that’s already decorated & trust me I have seen some very elegant looking ones (dynasty is the only name I remember but there is another one so let me check and get back to u on it). Point is that unless u have 2-3 men in ur family that have the time to be completely hands on that day to supervise & look after the setting up of the venue from the ground up and make sure they know every detail from the stage decor to the carpet to the center pieces, only then will u get things right!
Tabassums dress is 4 lakh pkr when I last asked her about it almost 1.5 years ago
Personally with the kind of dress u r going or thinking of going with I would say search to hire an antique classic car rather then a limo! Also during mybeedding I was told not to hire a fancy car for the enterence cuz it may just attract unnecessary attention in Karachi and u dont wana be doing that in ur wedding (basically avoid chors and all) my family is super careful sometimes a Lil irrationally but I had no choice but to listen to them.
All said and done my wedding was beautiful Mashallah I was hands on at every point of the planning. From visiting the decorater, photographer, caterer, dress and all I did it myself with help from my husband. Parents didn’t get involved they just gave instruction on what NOT to do lol
Couple of advices for u:
Dont keep ur functions back to back, my functions were 3 days in a row + the dholki days before that..by the time it was my reception day I was a cranky ***** & my photographer was getting on my last nerve with the poses but I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore so make sure u give urself a day in between to cool off! Trust me ull need it..
Choose a photographer who is good at what he does and not necessarily expensive or well known. I went with a photographer who is well known in Karachi and yet is modern in his approach & he charged me a bomb but when I saw my wedding teaser I was thtoughly disappointed! When i took it up with him he told me that he did it based on my budget & my response was i paid u whatever u asked for so where did the ‘budget’ thing come from?! The nerve of that idiot…
Anyways point being ull get plenty of startups and they will do it out of passion and to build their cliental instead of mintining money! Check out jiggyjoggers or faheema Ahmed etc
Natasha salon is amazing!!! I went there all 3 days and wasn’t disappointed AT ALL!! I didn’t feel I was in Pakistan and that’s exactly what I wanted to feel like. Make sure u take any flowers with you if u want them in ur hair for any of ur desired looks! Also, they are pretty punctual with their appointments so dont be late!
If in jewellery u r planning to get kundan either ask one of ur Indian friends to get for u or check mirraw.com & I shall also give u a fb link of a vendor in India. No one does kundan better then Indians!!
Hope that helps & if there is anything else I think of I shall update it here
P.s: ignore the grammatical issues and spelling mistakes, typing on my phone is a real pain!!
