I WAS thinking if i eat a healthy strict diet with carbs etc for 2 months and lose some weight and then the alst month i take the carbs out and eat salds and meat etc only…will this be ok to lose more wight faster, itl only be that month or so and then after wedding il bring some carbs back in…or if i do the south beach phase1 for 4 to5 weeks…is that ok…im assuming the south beach phase 1 is no carbs etc
I remember learning in my health class at uni that if you cut out carbs completely, you will feel more tired and have lack of energy.
If you look at the food pyramid, the carbs are at the very bottom and make up the biggest part of the triangle. That's because carbs are what provide you energy...that's like you #1 energy fuel.
The difference is between the quality of carbs. You don't want simple carbs that are found in cookies, cakes, candy. Foods containing simple carbs contain fewer nutrients and are more fattening.
It's best to opt for foods with complex carbohydrates such as fruits and veggies. Such foods are less fattening and contain more nutrients such a fiber and protein which aid in weight loss because they keep you feeling fuller for a longer time period (so you don't feel hungry so soon).
Don't eliminate. Eat in moderation. Pick the right carbs. And exercise.
Bad idea. That will effect your body and your mood adversely. Instead take out fast digesting carbs like potatoes, candy, sugary things , white bread e.t.c
Try to eat whole grain bread, protein and phase out carbs and fatty things after 6 p.m. For dinner eat veggies e.t.c
Being a Nutrition student I would never suggest any fad diet. Like redvelvet said moderation is the key. Plus carbs are an essential nutrient as the brain prefers energy in the form of glucouse. It is suggested by Health Canada and also in US that one should get 45 -65% or thier daily enegery from carbs.
As others have mentioned good sources of carbs are fruits and vegetables and high fibre grain products. An excellent way of not having to make major changes in the carbs you already eat is to just try the whole grian/wheat version. For example choose whole wheat flour for your chappati and buy whole wheat pasta instead.
You know what, you can still lose weight even if you eat carbs or white stuff.. just eat it in moderation and be more active.. you can also eat ice cream every other week, but make sure you are active in you daily life... and I don't mean going to gym , lifting weights.. I mean take lil steps for start, instead of elevator take stairs.. walk to the mall or bus stop.. or just walk few blocks every day.. you will see the results in just few days.
you are absolutely correct sweet_face. There's no harm in indulging every now and then, one should strive to gain an overall healthy lifestyle with adequate activity. Although its easier said then done and losing weight in a healthy manner is harder but it is a long term solution unlike fad diets.
