What do you guys think of having “No Cameras” written on the wedding invitation? We’ve seen a recent trend where people have written not to bring cameras, I think this recently originated from everybody taking pics of other peoples weddings, and posting them on facebook etc. What do you guys think?
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
I think its fair to write that and the Groom & Bride have full rights to do this. Its their wedding day. So many people get so surprised when they see their wedding photos all over the web!
I did the same thing at my wedding and everyone was so supportive, Mashallah. BUT, we did something a little different to keep the guests pleased. We had 3 photographers at my wedding. The photographer's table was on one side of the hall where guests could view their pics and buy them from the Photographer by putting their name, which photos they wanted and contact details down. After we came back from our honeymoon we sat with the photographer and went through all the photos the guests wanted. If I didn't approve of someone's choices of photos they wanted, we didn't give it to them.
But we spent a lot of money on photos and made chunky photo-books for everyone eg close fam' and friends and gave them as gifts to remember our wedding with. Everyone loved them!! Fam', siblings and cousins said they enjoyed my wedding so much because they didn't have to worry about taking pics etc.
So that was my experience and I was lucky I got so much support from everyone, Mashallah.
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
I don't want untagged pics of me on facebook or a video of me as a guest on youtube so I think its perfectly fine that they have chosen to ask their guest to not bring camera.

Whether or not someone personally agrees with it, they are invited as a guest and should respect the couple's wishes

Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
The woes of Facebook.
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
I am all for it. I hate it when Uncle Joes come stand next to you while doing the group shots and the eyes of the couple/people wander from one photog to the other. It just wastes everyone's time.
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
I personally think it's a dumb idea! What if I want to come to your wedding and take pics of my mom and dad, and your in the background, are you going to get upset with me if I post the pic on facebook? Come on now, this is 2010! I'd be embarassed to write no cameras! It's a wedding, be proud of the day, and if people want to post pictures so be it, otherwise, have a private wedding in your basement, or go the mosque with your parents have your wedding with no one there. If people didn't post pictures up, how would you get ideas for your own wedding? I've been on this forum for a few weeks now, and with photos, I've gotten some pretty good ideas for my wedding.
MY OPINION!!!!
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Pics do end up on facebook and all sorts of websites. Hence, it's understandable if people restrict guests from bringing in cameras.
Re: No Cameras written on Wedding Invitation.
i guess i didn't mind because i always like seeing pics that other people have taken, or did take at my wedding, cos that way it was like i could see parts of the party that i wasn't there to witness myself since i was busy elsewhere. there's a few shots of people that i didn't get to spend too much time with that day and also shots of my friends having a really good time and i'd have missed if i was only relying on my photographers.

i wont mind pics taken by friends, releatives but then i wont want them to be on net and the whole world looking at it .
recently a close friend got married. her pics were posted on some forums without her consent (by one of her cousin), and she was really mad when she find it out because her in laws are very reserved and then one of her releative called her mother in law saying . oh i saw your son's wedding pics posted on net. you guys did not send us the pics but you allow others to post it on net
