So my paindo arse tried it for the first time and it turned out greasy as hell! I followed the recipe on the back of the box and used uncooked keema, it turned out so freaken oily even though I didn’t add any oil to it! Arrrrggghhhhhhh ![]()
Re: no boil lasagne
hehehe
okie so we learnt today that no boil lasagne is a bad experiment :p
Re: no boil lasagne
Excatly how were u trying to make the lasagne??
Re: no boil lasagne
What is the lasagna’s fault in all of this?
I have made no boil lasagna before and it turned out pretty non greasy. It could depend on the kind of cheese that you use as well. If you are using full fat, your dish might come out greasier perhaps.
Re: no boil lasagne
How does no-boil lasagna work? ![]()
Re: no boil lasagne
Let's make sure we are all on the same page here. To me it means not boiling the noodles before hand but using raw noodles to layer on.
Re: no boil lasagne
^ yupp thats it.
errr i just used rago pasta sauce and layered it :-/
I guess it was teh cheese than…oil was like dripping
or mabye ti was the keema cuz when i cook it seprately i usually drain the fat
Re: no boil lasagne
Hmm so u are using precooked lasagne sheets? How do u make lasagne with noodles, that wud become pasta? When u make lasagne u use lasagne sheets and make layers one on top of eachother.
And always when u r cooking lasagne and stuff like that ALWAYS use keema with lowest fat percent..like 4-5% fat. Cook the keema never boil (I have never understood how ppl enjoy boiled keema). Cook it well, boil the tomato sauce so that the excess water is dried out..but not all of it though, mix keema and tomato souce. Ofcourse with the other ingredients (garlic wagharia but i guess u know that). So now u have a sauce that is low on fat and a bit thick not to dry and thick though. So put sum butter on the oven tray ur going to use. Put a layer of the hard precooked lasagne sheets and a layer of sauce. Dont put too much sauce on each layer just so that the layer is covered. Put sum cheese on the layer dont overdo it or else u'l have a greasy oily lasagne. now put sum cream on the layer normal cream that is also used to make whipped cream. Just pour a bit around the layer. Last thing is to sprinkle sum oregano on top. Now make as many layers as u have sauce. On the top layer u can cover wit a bit more chease and oregano, this will get nice brown and crunchy mmm. I promise this will be the bestest lasagne ever ;)
Re: no boil lasagne
Oh yeah I forgot most important thing. When u are finished with making ur layers, then put the lasagne in the fridge overnight. Make the lasagne the next day and not the same day as ur preparing it. This will make the sheets really soft and yummie.
Re: no boil lasagne
..first time i didnt boil lasgane sheets so they were like paapers
then tried mr daagh’s recpie n boiled em n they were all broken into tinny pieces
so i mixed em wid keema n ate em .
Re: no boil lasagne
Yaar i have tried making lasagna twice : once iwth ricotta cheese and once with mozarella, since we dont like ricotta in my family.
Sorry cant help with the keema fat part. I used chicken (white meat) once and then i think next time i just made vegetable sauce with some ragu, cooked spinach, mushrooms, olives etc.
Anyhow, i made it a little different than Danish bhai here. I layered noodles, sauce and cheese in as many layers i wanted. Top with cheese and bake. It takes a while to bake it and my uncooked noodles turned out awesome. They were soft and thoroughly cooked by the time it was done.
Re: no boil lasagne
I think it might be the qeema which I would suggest that you precook and then layer w/ the ready to bake lasagna sheets.
Re: no boil lasagne
if you are not using the ready to bake lasagna sheets Sandu then you need to leave the lasagna sheets in cold water so they won’t stick together or break while you are layering them in the lasagna pan.
Re: no boil lasagne
^ great advise..im gonna try that next time i make lasgana. which by the way i cant make. It almost always turns out bad.
Do you guys have a good (tried) recipe for lasgana?
Re: no boil lasagne
I would suggest the website www.foodtv.com for recipes.

I will try it next time. Every time i have cooked lasagne it turned out pretty good. Atleast my fiance loved it, lol thats all i care for.
Even though it was greasy, i dont think my brothers noticed it, cuz it was gone by the night :o
Re: no boil lasagne
Use lean keema.
Re: no boil lasagne
where do u get that from?
Sometimes I wash the keema until its like white/pink and all the fat is gone
Re: no boil lasagne
You dont even need to put a single drop of oil in the keema..
i dont know why so much oil came out?
Re: no boil lasagne
My lasagna get oily cuz i add too much cheese. sigh
