No Ashes thread?

Re: No Ashes thread?

Don't the give discount to veteran members, EH?

Re: No Ashes thread?

Told everyone

England went for a defensive, flat pitch at Lord’s after the win in Cardiff and they have been flattened by Australia on day 1

Australia 186/1 are in control. may need to bat only once in this test

Re: No Ashes thread?

With 14 overs still remaining on day 1, Australia are in a commanding position at drinks

289/1

Re: No Ashes thread?

Tomorrow’s British tabloids will be fun to read! They win one game and they think they can conquer anyone!

I know it is a flat pitch and England might still go on to draw this game but I am waiting to see what he and others have to say tomorrow. Flat pitch or not, England’s bowling looked toothless today.

Re: No Ashes thread?

Flat tracks bullies

Re: No Ashes thread?

Australia in full command. England will find it difficult to save this match unless there is a batting collapse by Aus today.

Re: No Ashes thread?

England on the ropes at tea on day 4

64/5

This game could finish today!

Re: No Ashes thread?

A run out in a test match is an unforgivable sin..

Marsh to Root, OUT, firmly clipped into the leg-side, and what has happened here?! Uh oh ... Stokes has failed to run his bat in! A quick single from Root, Johnson pounced and flung, and, well, Stokes' foot was in the air, hovering over the crease as the bails were obliterated! He'd have been in by two yards if he had done the basics.
BA Stokes run out 0 (3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Re: No Ashes thread?

A stoke of bad luck

Re: No Ashes thread?

A drawn Ashes series would be the best result.

Australia are arrogant
England go overboard after one win

64/7, reality check for England after the hype created by media and ex-players (as if the Ashes was already won!) since the win in the first test @ Cardiff..

Re: No Ashes thread?

That too at the stoke of tea.

Re: No Ashes thread?

England 101/9... pathetic display with the bat!

So both games finished on day 4

Re: No Ashes thread?

What a reversal for England! 405-run rout

Re: No Ashes thread?

England thrashed out of sight.

Re: No Ashes thread?

Third heaviest Ashes defeat (runs) for England!

  • 562 at The Oval, 1934
  • 409 at Lord’s, 1948
  • 405 at Lord’s, 2015
  • 384 at Brisbane, 2002
  • 382 at Adelaide, 1894-95
  • 381 at Brisbane, 2013

Re: No Ashes thread?

Wow

Re: No Ashes thread?

The hype prior to the match was similar to hype for English football team prior to every world cup. If their press were to play, they would beat every other press service.

Glad Haddin wasn't part of celebration. Still can't stomach Warner celebrating.
