Didn’t Hemenway write a novel about this called “A Fairwell to Arms.”
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Pieces of a man’s body fell from the wheel well of a South African Airways passenger plane bound for John F. Kennedy International Airport Tuesday and landed in the yard of a suburban home, police said.
The body parts, which included the right leg, part of the spine and a hip, struck a garage roof of the home in South Floral Park, New York, before landing in the backyard, police said.

More than likely he was hiding on the runway. When the plane stopped at the end of the runway he climbed up on the tires, and into the wheel well. Unfortunately the plane probably flew at 40,000 feet for hours where there is no oxygen, and it is very cold. When the planes wheels came down for a landing he fell out. He was probably dead minutes after he climbed into the plane.
You know, I just re-read the article and it occured to me that these parts fell from a height that would have cause damaged to the home and garage they hit. Can you imagine the insurance claim for the damages?
I just checked my homeowners policy. There is an exclusion of coverage for repairing roof damage caused by falling body parts. On the other hand, my auto insurance covers damage caused by “flying” body parts. I wonder if “falling” body parts are included within the definition of “flying” body parts?
That’s a very astute question. After researching the issue thoroughly, I have concluded that the answer to your question is: It Depends.
For instance, If this happened in an Islamic country and if the body part was from a Muslim and it fell on a Muslim, it would be an act of God. However, if the body part was from a Non-Muslim and it fell on a Muslim, America did it.
