Nizam Saqqa - Fiction or Reality?

Many of us know about this water carrier - Nizam Saqqa, who saved Mughal King Humayon from drowning during his battle with Sher Shah Suri and for this Humayon granted him a wish. It is said that after getting rule again, Humayon made Nizam king for a day.

Is this Nizam Saqqa a real person or just a work of fiction? What did he do when he was made a king for one day?

He was a water carrier (Saqqa / behishti), who accidentally saved Humayon in drowning Jamna, when he was escaping from Delhi at the time of war with Sher Shah Suri. It is reported for saving his life, Humayon granted him a wish that if he again become ruler of Hindustan, he will make Nizam a king for a day..

The more interesting would be to know what he did when he was really made king for a day :D

Was there anything about his rule in Pak studies.. I don't remember reading about him in study texts.

This is what I found about the activities of Nizam Saqqa on becoming king:

The tale says that once Mughal Emperor Humayon’s life was saved by a water carrier named, Nizam Saqqa( Saqqa is an old character of the Arabian and some Asian societies. It was the title given to those people who used to serve water in big water pots, made out of leather). The name of the Saqqa was Nizam and thus he is remembered as Nizam Saqqa. The Emperor rewarded him as a token of his gratitude by declaring him king of India for half a day, i.e. from sunrise to sunset.

After becoming a one-day King, Nizam Saqqa focused on only one issue and that was how to benefit his community, his friends and family out of his one day rule of the country. He suddenly developed a unique idea. He announced that for the day of his rule, the leather coins made out of the Mashkeezas( the water pots made out of leather to carry water) should be declared the currency of the country. All his dear and near ones, the members of his community, who of course had plenty of leather water pots, cut the pots and made leather coins out of them. They then went out and bought everything they wanted with those leather coins and all become rich within few hours and then they never needed the water pots to serve water to anyone. Nizam just thought of how to benefit his community and he did it within the shortest possible time.
