Niqab***h

I couldn’t put the url in correct because it has the b word, so just click on the muslimah media watch article on the first page

I didn’t want to post the direct link to the youtube video, rather i put a link to the article on this blog which is discussing it and you can watch the video as you wish (it has some swear words)

So what does everyone think of this stunt? I think it would have been alot better if they carried this out AFTER the ban comes into place, it would be funny to see the reaction of the officials (in the video the police were taking pictures of them rather than confronting them about breaking the law by covering their faces!). I interpret the whole niqab and miniskirt combo as women’s freedom of choice to wear what they like, society is accepting of one more than another. And the irony remains that the people in the video are accepting these women for wearing niqab for political reasons but not religious. Though I dont really agree with niqab, I dont think a woman should go to prison for it, I’m sure there are more worse things happening in france.

Re: Niqab***h

this "stunt" is as ridiculous as the niqab ban.

surely, there must be better ways of getting your point across than to call urself "niqab!tches" and walk around the streets wearing a microskirt and a niqab.

Re: Niqab***h

BBQ I don't think so they were wearing any skirts at all. I didn't see any. All I could see was bare legs :/ I thought it was hilarious, the thought of ladies in Niqab with no lower clothing was funny but it's stupid at the same time. I just hope Maulvi types in Pakistan don't get whim of this, otherwise we might have Niqabi women and men of Niqabi women getting offended. That will cause protests and stuff. Jeez.

Re: Niqab***h

^ DW, I am not a niqabi, yet I felt a little bit offended when I saw the bare legs & niqab combo... muslim women really don't need this kind of publicity right now.

I agree with OP, this is more of a political statement, not a religious one.

Re: Niqab***h

True, I thought it was sending a wrong message about Muslim women. When I saw the video, first thought that came in to my mind was, they are giving the wrong impressions to guys. Women in Niqab can get more picked on, noticed and get unnecessary attention. Why I thought that was because, I thought if I was a guy watching the video, I would think, hey they are actually really sexy beneath that garb!

I kind of hated it and found it amusing at the same time, how they are parading their bare legs all over town and people are snapping their pictures up. Now those pictures will go up on to god knows how many countless websites and men will make such stupid comments.

Re: Niqab***h

I just found ti a bit annoying when the police officer was taking their pictures, they are still breaking the law by covering their faces, shouldn;t they be cautioned or something. I'm srue if there was a normal munaqaba with her kids and carrying shopping thepolice would have pounced on her.

Re: Niqab***h

Also the reason i didn't post the direct video clip that's on youtube was because i wanted people to read the article on muslimahmediawatch about it first so they can form an opinion on it rather than oggle on it.

Re: Niqab***h

^ true.

I also think it created a greater division between muslim women and the western society... I'll be happy to eat my words if this leads to something positive and if people actually understand what the ladies were trying to convey - freedom of choice, basically.

Re: Niqab***h

That's good!
