Niqaab or face covering for a muslim woman is obligation or not?
if its not then why do in saudi women cover thier face?
If yes then please provide references for it?
Re: nIQAAB
do u think every thing saudis do is obligatory in Islam????
Re: nIQAAB
so niqaab is'nt an obligation?
Re: nIQAAB
i am pretty sure it is not
we dont hv to follow all that saudis do n sayy
Re: nIQAAB
The point is, don't take Saudis as your reference for religion :)
Re: nIQAAB
Because Saudi women are not allowed to drive, is it haraam for you to drive?
Re: nIQAAB
ok ok...........i take my words back.
I just wanted to clear things about the satar of women.....some people think that when you're talking about the "hijjab" they think you're talking about Niqaab and Burqah.Niqaab is a cultural thing.I've heard you can't go outside in Saudi without Niqaab.
Re: nIQAAB
I don’t think that’s true, because Saudi TV has women on screen with their faces showing (face and hands only, everything else covered).
Re: nIQAAB
It has more to with culture & custom. People were like this in Saudi before Islam also. Islam prescribes the 'minimum', you can always overdo something.
Its like zakah is 2.5%, but you can always give more.
Hajj is to be done once, you can always do more.
But lets try to overdo only positives , not negatives.
Re: nIQAAB
When a sister is already covering everything but her face and her hands, and she would like to do something extra to seek the love of Allah SWT, the only things left for her to cover are - her face and her hands!
Hijab is a screen of privacy→ Niqab is a better screen
Hijab helps develop taqwa→ Niqab helps develop more taqwa
Hijab is a jihad that purifies the soul→ Niqab is a greater jihad
Hijab is a protection for sisters→ Niqab is a better protection
Hijab is an assertion of Islamic identity→ Niqab is a stronger assertion
Hijab is fard→ Niqab is mustahabb
Re: nIQAAB
hareem01.....is it ok if i forward u an e-mail..........regarding ur question.........

Re: nIQAAB
You might be right but its all optional.

Re: nIQAAB
I think the middle way is much better which is only covering your whole body except hands and face.......
But I respect the women with Niqaab.....
Re: nIQAAB
^ i go to saudia quite often and see many women without a niqaab....
nowadays u will see them in the shopping malls even without a scarf on the head...

I disagree Bcoz i think "the best" is which is in Quran or hadith....i think there is more wisdom in not covering your face......i can't say anything about the swaab or ajar for doing niqaab.bcoz only Allah knows that.
Re: nIQAAB
Heres wht i found :
**Tafseer - Ibn Katheer **
*"Allah commanded the muslim women to cover this sheet on top of them to cover their bodies except one eye, when it is necessary for them to come out of their homes." *
**Tafseer - Commentary by Ibn Jarir and Ahkam-ul-Quran, Vol.III, p.457 **
Imam Muhammad bin Sirin said: "When I asked Ubaida bin Sufyan bin al-Harith (ra) the meaning of this verse and how the jalbaab was to worn, he demonstrated it to me by pulling a sheet of cloth over his head to cover his entire body, leaving the left eye uncovered. This was also the explanation of the word 'Alaihinna in this verse"
