Re: Nintendo Wii as The Most Reliable Consoles in Gaming Segment
yes. nintendo hardware has always been very robust. they spend a lot more time and effort in designing their consoles.
Sony and MS are known for making a loss (sometimes significant) on each console they sell. Wii makes profit (I'm pretty sure this was true for the Gamecube, N64 etc too).
The surprising part of this article is that the 360 is the worst as Sony are notorious for poor hardware especially in the first model, the next few released are spent addressing those. The public do the Q&A.
Re: Nintendo Wii as The Most Reliable Consoles in Gaming Segment
exactly, do u have any idea how much mocrosoft lost due to the "red ring of death" hardware failure thing?
loads of consoles were sent back. till now that error is continuing
PS3 when they launched ps3 suffered major losses, they sold the unit for less then the manufacturing cost
Nintendo has generally made very reliable hardware. The XBox 360 RROD has been commonly known for a while now. Microsoft actually put aside a billion dollars to extend the warranty to 3 years for consoles affect by the problem.
Another reason that the XBox 360 and PS3 have a higher probability of failure over time is that the different components that they're cramming into the relatively small enclosure may not allow for adequate heat dissipation etc.
