Has anyone ever bought anything from Nilofer Shahid in Lahore? My mom is in Lahore right now, and she has an appointment with her. I know her outfits are extremely expensive, but are they worth it? Is the kaam on them really worth the price? How is it dealing with her?

The experience is wonderful. Price point is relative~ She is the pioneer of her league in Pakistan. Your mother should be the best judge of it all if she goes with an un biased approach about pricing. You really cant say about any designer or artist that they are too expensive cause its art and there are no set standards.

PCG, it doesn’t really matter where you get it from, it should look nice. noone’s gonna look at the tag.

Don't fret, girls. 99.9% of Pakistanis do not go to designers. Their prices are through the roof, and many times, their designs can be just so-so. The zari houses nowadays make beautiful dresses, complete with all the bells and whistles.
A lot of designers have bad reputations in regards to delivering what they promised and delivering on time. And the karigars, who actually do the embroidery, are no different whether they work in some galli or for some top designer. They are usually just middle aged men doing a craft that's been in their family for generations, whether they are employed by Top Designer X or a Bano Bazaar shadi house.
I do have a good number of designer pieces, but the truth is, the experience is not always the greatest. They are usually arrogant and snobby, and they don't respect you as a customer, and it's very hard to trust them with such a large amount of money, which is why my mother and relative HATE dealing with them.

You know who does a really good job in Karachi and they have a good rep plus good prices. I think its called Silk Palace or sari palace or someplace like that.
Jeez I forget the name. I know, doesn't help much. But they have a nice and really big store in the bazaar - not in a mall, but nicely air conditioned, quality of the work is great, and there is lots of selection.

I would say the best designer in Lahore at the moment is Taufiq Hussain. He is in the industry since many years. His prices r not too high and the outfits r great. He is not rude like other designers. He would only take orders if he can return on time. I got my outfits made from him last summer for my brothers wedding and the experience was great. He discusses everything before u order......i.e. occassion, your preference of colours, your taste, style and he would even suggest what kind colours/styles would go with ur personality. I personally think he s very professional comparing to other designers in Lahore and he does not charge unreasonably high. Unfortunately I have lost his number...... but u can get his number from any Wedding Directory or wedding magazine in Lahore. He is in Grden Town. In regrads with Nilofar Shahid.....i v been to her & i think her prices r extremely high....i think she is a ripp-off

I have not personally bought anything from her but we went to see her work and it is nice…the good thing is that its different but ya she IS very expensive but like sooraj-mukhi rightly said its an art and when some1 has the skills they will charge acc 2 their heart’s desire :D. But having said that i wouldnt say she is the BEST one out there…no there are many other good designers too and your mom should check few others out and than decide. As for how she is in dealing…well she is quite nice…she came 2 our college 2wice to give us lecture and show us her work…
I remember going 2 her for my bhai’s wedding shopping…and i really liked one of her shalwaar kameezes..if i m not wrong it was from her chugtai collection?!? and i absolutely adore that piece even now…but 2 bad i cudnt buy it…it was for 75,000…way too expensive:teary1:
