Nikon VS Canon

Re: Nikon VS Canon

when i went out to buy canon400D i was not expecting to buy nikon D60...

i had three options i had researched heavily on the net about sony alpha series, canon 400D and nikon D60... i was having difficulty choosing between canon and nikon so i chose canon but when i went to the shop and saw the pic quality diff between the two i chose nikon... nikon rox!

I saw the photograph you posted and said awsome.

I will still not buy that cannon is anyway inferior.

I have Cannon 20D and have been very happy with it. Hope I could someday got hold on D60.

Just as an advice for everyone who is interested in photography:

1- Buy any camera with some flexibility.
2- Learn to take good photographs.

Meaning what it means when it says
under or over exposure .

OR

Letters P, Tv, M, or whatever is on your camera.

3- Know what is not possible from using your camera or lense you are using.

4- You better know what is the difference in 18mm as compared to 28mm lens.
Lower the number, less you have to go ack to include a group of peole with 10 people in the room. just an example.

5- What does it mean by shutter speed? Faster it is, less blurry it is but less bright it is.

Anyway. Enuf for now.

Happy photography.

Re: Nikon VS Canon

HAHA most of the professional photographers in dubai use nikon!

Re: Nikon VS Canon

I can only comment on DSLRs. I have used Canon's extensively and used some Nikon. I have to say Canon's are better camera (which doesn't means Nikon are any less). Both companies have been making cmaeras for 50+ years!

I find Canon better:
- More selection of lens (especially in used market)
- Better Focus (with flash in really dark areas)
- Faster focus
- Smaller (although Nikon have better hand grib cuz of slightly bigger size)
- Grab any EF / EF-s lens and it works (Nikon has more things to check)
- CANON has better image quality!
- Canon has less noise at higher ISO (v.big help in dark areas)
- Canon allows more customization to settings directly off the back buttons (ISO, WB, AV, ...). Big thing when taking phots at events
- ...

Re: Nikon VS Canon

Yes. No stocks in cannon but I feel cannon is awsome.
Personally I can be biased since I have not used Nikon as much. So take my thoughts
with grain of salt. Thats OK.

do we have to use only the lens which is from canon or can we use any lens....?

same is the question i wana ask for nikon. do we have to buy only nikon lens for D60 or can use others as well...........?

Re: Nikon VS Canon

^ Yes you can only use the lens which are designed for Canon (called for Canon mount).

There are couple of manufacturer that makes lens for Canon DSLR cameras. Most famous manufucturers are Canon (itself), Sigma and Tamron.

Canon mount lens are cheapest as well (and most of the time better quality).

Sigma and Tamron make Nikon mount lens as well. Nikon can use only use lens that are for Nikon Mount.

Details (you may want to omit reading, because it may confuse you):
With Canon you can get any "EF" compatible lens which have been around for past ~15 years and it will work. you cannot MOUNT ON (plug the lens on) if the lens is older than "EF" technology.

With Nikon you can MOUNT ON every Nikon lens (but some feathres may not work, such as auto focus or metering).

so in short,
For Canon: if the lens fits on the camera, it will work perfect.
For Nikon: All lens will fit, but certain features may not work (have to check the lens and camera compatiblity).

Although you don't usually need to know this, as most people will deal with lens 5 years or less old.
