Assalaam-o-alaikum. I have a few questions regarding Nikkah, which I hope you guys can answer for me…

  • How many witnesses are needed?
  • Is all the paper work necessary?
  • Will the couple be Islamically married if someone reads the Khutba-e-Nikkah, asks the couple 3 times if they agree to marry each other in the presence of witnesses, says a prayer to bless the union…Are they any other compulsory steps?

There are different requirements for each School of Thought that you follow and also on the Law's of the country you are in.

To justify one's act's people switch in between School's of Thought and Law's of different Muslim countries, so in other words you have to take many things into consideration before answering that question.
