I have heard that in Pakistan this is a common practice where young girls usually when they are really young are married of the Quran Shareef.
Could anyone provide the facts about this practice.
My personal opinion that this is act is not justified as first of all its ruining ones life. I think there must be some influence from the our Indian heritage as such acts are real common in backward Hindu families where several types of such acts are done especailly to young girls.
“Our Lord! forgive us our sins and anything we may have done that transgressed our duty; establish our feet firmly and help us against those that resist faith.” Quran(3:147)
yup..it happens...especially rich chaudries who dont want to loose their fortune to their son in law..
ignorance...its a crime..

It's disgusting!
They even got a pakistani film out(Mendhi wale hath)where the family gets the girl married to the Quran sharief pak, so they can have the her share of the money that her dad left in his will.

These Quran-marridges are as Haraam as it can be, and still people let it happen. Why??
I also saw a movie about it 'Mehndi waali hath' with Saima and Momar Rana. Its disgusting and sad what happens to girls.
Waise to log kehte rehtey hain ke this is haraam and that is haraam, par phir bhi sab se zuadah gunnah khud karte hain.
Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't understand what happens in this process. How does someone get married "of the Quran Shareef"? What does that mean? Who precisely does she marry? Very sorry for the stupid questions, but I've never heard of this previously at all, so just curious.
I think its a medieval practice which may still be prevalent within Rural areas of Sindh, it is even blessed by local maulvis (probably CORRUPT maulvis). In Islam this practice is TOTALLY forbidden. I think its nothing but a fake excercise which allows rich landowners to control property rights.

This practice happens in some rural and feudally controlled areas in Pakistan, because of soicial manipulative reasons. This is condemned by all authoritative religious figures in Pakistan.
I think the logic behind such an arrangement arose by implying that the Qur'an is a mozakkar in its sift, so......
We have folks going to mazars and doing shirk, this is just another example of ignorence. Insha'Allah as ilm spreads such things as honor killings, quran marriages, mazari stuff would disappear.

KARACHI (August 7) : The primitive practice of marrying women to the Quran, the Muslim holy book, as a way to prevent division of family property has become the bane of the lives of many females in Pakistan.
According to a new survey, in the southern Sindh province alone, over 5,000 women are victims of this rite every year. Many of them become mental patients.
The male members of a family condemn women to a life of celibacy, dependence and loneliness to save their property from falling into the hands of husbands and children to be.
In various parts of Sindh and southern region of the Punjab province, feudals do not marry off their daughters and sisters. They are forced to surrender their right to marry spending their lives as spinsters.
This tradition is mostly followed in Sanghar, Nawabshah, Sukkur and Khairpur districts of Sindh and several girls have lost their lives defying the tradition.
Some feudal families in Lodhran, Kehror Pakka, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar areas of the Punjab province also follow the tradition.-Internews
PyariC thought its not limited to Sindh, but Sindh is more commonly/widely known for this practice of nikkah with Quran. My grandfathers have known rich Sindhi feudal lords who have done such with their daughters...its quite disturbing and sad. These kinds of people need to be enlightened/educated about factual Islam. They pickup whatever and suit it best to their needs/wants.
No,it doesn't happen in punjab. Well can't say DOESN'T,but very very rare, maybe 1%. The chaudhries are not influenced with such pratctices because it doesn't exist in punjabi cult. In the sindh side, where the culture was influenced by hinduism, more of the hindu practices. If some people would try searching into this, Wadaira's who r like Chaudhries, still have servents who would touch their feet and say "pairi paina".This comes from hinduism, but punjab is influenced by punjabi, sikh culture. Like the caste system, which still exist in pakistani punjab. You still find sikh in punjab, but you will always find a hindu in sindh. This shows which culture would have influenced which part of the country.
I don't understand, such practice is not even islamic, its anti-islam. Muslims have forgot the last Khutba of our prophet, where he(saw) stated, anything which is added or deducted from the teachings is haraam and kufr. Islam is complete with the Quran and Hadith. and we all know, nothing like this ever happened when Hazrat Muhammad(s.a.w) was alive. Not just the Quran, but our Prophets life tells us what Islam is.
