Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

As I mentioned in a previous thread, my family has decided to do the nikkah at the mehndi followed by a barat the next day. I’m having trouble trying to figure out wording…

Anyone have ideas? My mother is going to Pak tomorrow and need to send her info ASAP!

Thanks! I would REALLY appreciate it.

To give a little background, the nikkah will be at 7pm SHARP (I’m telling my fam/friends to be thre exactly at that time and everyone else can just come late or whatever). have me come out after and then do the rasams followed by dinner.

thanks!

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

also is the mehndi invite usually from my sister/family only or from both our sisters?

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

Mehndi is from your side; so from your sister. At least that's how we did it.

Since Nikah is more important than mehndi...then list that first. You can call it Nikkah and mehndi. Or Nikkah and Rasm-e-hina.

You could maybe start it off as "name of your family" cordially invites you attend the Nikkah ....followed by the time it will take place....followed by Rasm-e-Hina....follower by time of dinner.

On our cards, we put down that arrangement for maghrib prayer will be made at the hotel; I forget the exact wording. But it lets people know that they can pray at the hotel and so this helps them to come earlier.

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

ok so I was going to go with

"Mrs. & Mrs. Dad's first name, last name
cordially invite you to attend the
Nikkah Ceremony of their daughter SoConfused
at 7pm sharp inshAllah
followed by the
Rasm-e-Hina
at 8pm inshAllah
on DATE of event

Event location/address
RSVP info

But...since it's a nikkah, do we have to have my fiance's family on there too?

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

It's good for your guests to know whom you're getting nikkahfied to. So consider this:

Mr. & Mrs. __________ cordially invite you attend the Nikkah ceremony of their daughter

So confused

With

Name of the Guy

Son of Mr. And Mrs (the guy's parents)

On

(Date)

At

(Time followed by location)

Followed by

Rasm-e-hina

Dinner timings

Keep the font size of Nikkah and Rasm-e-Hina big...and the same...so that these two events stand out on the card layout.

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

Okay, that sounds good!

for the wedding I have this :

"In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful"

Mr. Dad and Mrs Mom
Request the honor of your presence
At the Wedding of their beloved daughter
So Confused
with
SoConfused Fiance
Son of Dr. FIL and Mrs. MIL

InshAllah on Friday, the Twelfth day of June
Two Thousand and Fifteen

Barat arrival : _____
Dinner: ____
Rukhsati _______

at
ADDRESS

With compliments from:
Soconfused Bro
SoConfused Sis

Does that work?

Also questions:

do people write out the different things (arrival of barat, dinner, rukhsati) on cards still? I've seen a few done with that and I kinda liked it...or is that weird?

Re: Nikkah / Mehndi combined function invitation wording help please!

We only wrote that nikkah/wedding was at 7. And that at another point we mentioned it again that Program starts at 7:00.

We avoided putting dinner time as some folks will only care to show up for food.
