I am asking this from all recently nikahfied sisters, Can you plz tell me how was your ceremony arranged ? was it all plain and simple ( nikkah , dinner and photo session and over ) or there were any traditions or halla gulla too ?
since the actual rukhsti will take place after 5/6 months, so the mayoo mehndi and valima are deffered till then. What do you suggest how the nikkah ceremnoy should be ? It ll be boring as hell if we keep it simple :S and I dont know if it’ll look odd if some background music is played (ofcrse after the nikkah is done). Please suggest.
Well the nikkah ceremony is meant to b a religious event so it shouldnt even have things like music and what not on the day, yes have a family dinner or so but def dont over rule the whole meaning of the nikkah by music dancing etc etc keep it religious and do the rest when u actually have the big wedding
You dont have to have a boring nikkah it’s self, why not include some rasms etc to make it more eventful , a guest book for the guests to be involved and maybe a skit by the groom n brides sides? Incorporate the couples personality like if the groom or bride was reluctant to marry , then like getting proposals but refusing them…something light hearted.
You could do a slideshow of the couple’s journey , individually and coming together & baby pics are sweet and yet have that slightly embarrassing factor for guys , I’ve seen it done and everyone enjoys it.Even the bride gets to have a good laugh .
There could be a poem dedication? Something like Khalil Jibran on marriage or anything , either the family members could dedicate it or you ur self.
You could even do a parody on the poetry it’s self. . have a bouquet toss? Girls will love that.
You could do some games I’ve seen something like 10 questions where the bride n groom answer q’s individually and then some one asks the couple the questions and cross refrence it to how they answered. I’m sure if u involve the family in different activities then it will be fun and eventful . The bride n groom got all of each other questions right which was fun n surprising for everybody, u could have some serious answers n some funy ones like tooth brush colour etc, n surprisingly the groom knew the ans to it:D.
If ur creative with it I’m sure it will turn out to be fun -parties are just dinners too , but it’s the company & meeting friends etc that make it exciting. Two families friends getting together 4 a celebration will be fun
Lots of ideas off the top of my head.I’m sure when u think together u will come up with a cohesive way to make it fun & keep the religious sanctity in tact.

i had my nikah this year in March. It was a simple affair. The men went to the mosque and i was at my place. After nikah, we had some catering and tent arrangement in the backyard where me and husband then sat and met with family. we had dinner and took pictures, it was small, sweet and special. :)
you can perhaps have a dholki a day before the nikah. that can be fun. :)
Well i had my nikah in april and the rukhsati will be in Dec... so pretty much the same situation...
WE had a dholki at my place a day before all my cousins came in... called a lady to apply mehndi all my cousins and auntys got it ... and then had a pizza party =p
it was good fun =)
nikkah was a totally religious affair nice and low... my in laws were traveling from isl to lhr so it was kept a bit early.... no music no nothing... just good food and a nice small gathering with some fancy decor... in total a relaxing event.....
In the end there was a small surprise by my husband...
My husband and I studied together in UK for a year so he had a nice surprise... a video starting with our baby pics that he got from my bro =p and going up to all the fun we had during our Msc, univ trips, parties and a Euro trip... on to our engagement and graduation ceremony....
since it was small family event everyone loved it... esp my mom =p she took a copy of it from him to watch later =p
i would suggest keep the nikkah ceremony simple and pack it around with some fun events before or after!
=)

aww I can imagine it must be really cute and touchy for u n ur mother to see that. accha there was no music at all ?after nikkah too ? since our nikkah will be in hotel banquet. I wonder it'd be too boring sitting there after the nikkah . Does it look odd if we play songs ? not too loud or dancing numbers ofcrse but something soft.
