Nikah Naama/Form

hello girls

does anyone know where i can find a copy of a nikah naama (so i know what info is required)?? is it a fixed form or are there multiple variations? where do i get it from…the local musjid or imam or print it out from somewhere?? does it have clauses you can add or delete or amend? i’ve heard there is a part that parties “cross out” in pakistan?? i’m so unfamiliar with what it involves and would appreciate help from all you married/nikah-fied people :).

what are some things i should include and be aware of? is it kind of like a prenuptial? what is the amount of “reasonable” haq mehr to be asked for in the US or Canada? do i turn in this form along with my marriage certificate to be officially married??

eeeeeeeek..sorry i have so many questions! i’m totally clueless and need help :(. i tried searching online, but didn’t find anything legit so i thought i’d turn to my fellow gupshuppies and ask for your first hand advice.

::gulp::

help me pretty please

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

what i know is they cut the part in which they gave the right of divorce to women also.

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

erm i dunno

my wedding was in pak and i guess the maulvi or my mamy brought nikah nama from somewhere .

and there were all kind of categories on the form

like the right for me to give divorce which was neither crossed or ticked

also if the women was virgin . widowed or divorced

name of witnesses n etc.

i dont evn knw if this answers ur question

sorry lolz

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

i got married and my nikkah form which i signed was with the imam
the imam has the nikkah book which has everybody else marriage certificate that live in the same area as the imam he then later gets it stamped to show its a true copy and gives u 2 of the 4 papers and leaves 2 in the book
so u have 2 sign 4 papers

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

well nabz, wen n' where are u gettin married.? cz in Pakistan u don't have to worry abt it, ur mamu, chacha, may b father... i mean the close family members they bring the naka nama to the dulhan n' shez jus suppose to sign the form :) other things depends... ain't the ladkay walay suppose to fix the amount of the mehar..?
sorry i guess even im not sure if i've givn the clear ans to what u asked :)

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

i'm getting married in the US, Inshallah...so its not as simple as Pakistan I guess :). The haq mehr...I though the amount was to be decided by both parties? Does anyone know the norm for the US and Canada? I only know of one my friends...her father wanted it to be higher because of unfortunate experience with the 2 elder daughters (both are divorced and living back at home) so they set it at $21K, BUT ghair muajal (so its deferred).

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

Re: Nikah Naama/Form

There are two types ... if I write that in english ... they will spell almost the same but let me try

  1. Mo'ajjal >> this one is like a gift that dulha should give right away, maybe on first night ... amount is on mutual consent

  2. Mowajjal >> this is in case of divorce ...

Both amounts should be determined and agreed upon by both parties ..

it should not be so high that Dulha gets bankrupt, should not be so low that its an insult to the lady...

In USA or Canda (or in Pakistan)... I would say .. in ufortunate event of dicorce .. something that you can live for 6-8 months without too much sacrificing on your current life style
