Nihari pairings

It is for a dawat. I have some meat for nihari and since it is well below freezing here I thought it would warm my guests up.
I was thinking of doing fresh home made naans, chicken Tikka, chana pulao, salad , palak paneer and nihari. Or was thinking of doing
Aaloo Naan, plain Naan , nihari, salad and chicken Tikka.
What do you guys think

The first one with the palak, and pulao, etc. Go with that.

I like the first option better as well.

That’s the authentic one - yes I tried but I did not cook it in the meat fat but in oil. That’s exactly like the one being sold in Delhi as shown in the video.

If we are making Nehari (or Haleem) just for us, we dont pair it with anything else

If its get together of close friends/relatives who wont talk how bad of a host we are that we just presented 2-3 dishes, we pair it with baked/tandoori chicken and mutter (or veggie) pulao.

and if its for the other kind of dawat/formal one, u have whole lot dishes.

My nihari turned out very unimpressive. :frowning: … it was too watery and not spicy enough. I really need to work on my nihari skills.

did u cook it long enough?

also… next time its too watery… roast more atta and add.

My jethani brought nihari from Karachi to canada (I have no idea how) but I had it and it was the most delicious thing ever. Haven’t quite had anything close to it since then. The one she brought was so tender, the gravy was rich but no oil… everything here is swimming in oil.

If you follow the recipe in post 19 - you will get the same taste!

Or get hold of “shan-e-dehli nihari masala” from Delhi you will get the same taste!

I made my own nihari spice mix. The spice mix was really really good, here is what I did wrong I didn’t bhuno the meat with the masala and onions very well, I added less aata. Lessons for next time InshAllah…
