Night Dry

My older two are 6 and 7, but still i have to take them at midnight for the last pee, as i am last one to sleep, or otherwise they come to us 5 Am having peed in bed.

AT what age the kids are completely dry at night.

Re: Night Dry

Icono, my 6 year old has been sleepin through the night, dry, without having to get up in the middle of the night since she was 4.5. No accidents ever. I have heard that it takes longer in boys but I'm not sure why or if that claim is correct as I don't have sons.

My 2.5 year old is potty/pippy trained already but she I do put on a diaper for the night. 5/7 nights are dry, but I'm not ready to take the risk.

I think what you are doing is fine. Perhaps you want to cut out their pre-sleep liquids like bedtime milk, and also make sure they are warm enough?

Re: Night Dry

yu are rigtht problem is mainly with my son.

Re: Night Dry

Both my eldest son (8 yrs) and my youngest (5 yrs) have occasional accidents at night. It doesnt make a difference when I limit their fluid intake or not - its more that they sleep deeply and havent gotten down the control yet. And its not something that you can actually teach them, its that their brain needs to learn to wake up when the bladder is full.

I was a bed-wetter until I was 11 years old! My parents got a "wee-alert" which is a pad you sleep on, its connected to an alarm box which you place next to the bed. At the first drop of moisture, the alarm goes off and wakes you up and your muscles contract to keep the urine in. It took me only 3 nights and it never happened again! My brain learned that the proper response is to wake up rather than to let go when bladder full.

I think your kids are still young and they probably wont need this but its something to keep in mind if it keeps happening as they get older.

Re: Night Dry

I think some kids have to be reminded and woken up at night till they are 12 years old.

To avoid embarrassment - you must wake the kid up at night once to go to bathroom.

I wake my daughter up, however, my son has never needed to go since he was 2.5 years old. His diapers would be dry at that age! lol

Re: Night Dry

Icon the range is anywhere from 4 to 12-13, so you can possibly have a few years to go. Other than that, MO3 said it right, the brain has to be taught.

I have distinct memories of this one night when i was seven, we used to live in an officer’s colony Manghopir. I got up in the middle of the night and had to go pee, but i couldn’t since i couldn’t find a *chappal *to go to the bathroom! :smack: I ended up running around the whole house searching for one in the dark but couldn’t find one and disaster struck in the main living room. I started crying and woke up ami to clean the mess :halo:
