OK, this is something that I’ve been wondering about for quite some time. I asked a few guys I know about this and none of them could give me a straight/clear answer. I was just reading the thread on “Poilitical Correctness” in the General Forum and got reminded of this.
I’m sure you guys have seen/heard desis(especially desi guys) refer to each other as “nigga” or “niggaz”. Why?
First of all, they’re not black. Second of all, the people doing it, do they realize just how insulting this term is to many blacks? Personally, I think they look like dorks when they do it.
None of my friends do it. The guys at my Uni. who do it are people I don’t know so that’s why I can’t(won’t) ask them directly. But I really am curious as to why on earth are desis refering to each other as “niggaz”.

that is right, they may be calling each other NIKKA means "OOIA` CHOTAI"
Alot of people are wannabes, since rap/r&b/ hiphop has gotten so famous alot of people has started copying other people without even knowing what it means. They are just ignorant.

I don't know where you guys are located by here in Texas, trust me...they call each other "niggaz", "nigs", "nigga" etc. It's NOT "nikka". I've not only heard people calling each other that, but I've been to several desi message boards where they actually write it too.
WEll the answer is, like someone has said previously, "wanna be a hip black dude attitude." well it is ok for blacks to call each other nigga (for whatsoever reason) but of course, some of us abcds for some strange reason find it cool (excluding me of course).
well, a lot of desis in miami have that problem too - the rapper desis affectionately call each other “nigga” or “dawg”.
Hey, we even have our own dirty-dawg on this forum - you should ask him…oh wait, he’s too islamic to visit this forum – try looking for him in the religion section
well the ones who say nigga nig niggz e.t.c are probably the wannabe rude boys, u know, the type that act as if they’re all that. it’s either that or they’re probably just plain dumb
thug culture is very attractive to alot of desi guys, although i myslef (i'm a paki 20 year old) also wonder why these guys are attracted to it. Of all the blacks in the world, these guys try to cop on american black stlyes, who are the only unsavory ones. otherwise most other blacks around the world are respectable, decent, and cultured people that are never emulated...America is the only place i know of where nigga is stilled used today to actively refer to blacks. blacks use it amongst themselves.
Although, I haven't heard any desi guys say it, myself. But I can imagine it being popular in some asian guys as these days asian guys try to act like black guys. They do it in various ways, getting similar hair cuts, acting like them, than there is something with the walk aswell. I mean I fail to understand there need to become or act like black guys.

there are two kind of peopl colored people and white people... Pakistani's or desis fall in the colore ppl catigory.. so we be like colored people.. when there is someone white he has his own white thingz and thats wht he is.. when there is a colored person he has and represent his own thing.. so we can jus say that there are two divisions in american society and we (desi) fall in color one..

I have at some occasions called my friends 'nigga', but it was always out of affection and friendship as oppose to disrespect. I don't think I'd mind if any of my close friends would call me a 'nigga' since you only address your best friends with this slang, and it's never meant to be taken personally.
I think "yaar" could be replaced with niga..Right? well i don live in desi society and don know any desi peeps.. and i never use the word "niga" even wid blacks.. i jus say "dawg" to every one..

& well dont know why they call nigga to asian fellows cos even blacks dont like it to be called nigga, perhaps the reason behind is that it was slave name hundreds of years back, the slave race of blaks was called niggros, (as far as i know)
